AMA: I'm Quitting Reddit. Ask Me Anything You've been wanting to Know. 1 Question per Person

What is some good source to learn for a noob to test reddit. I do Seo/Ads as service, I have Rehab, Auto and couple of service industry clients. My idea is to have reddit accounts that would help in GEO for a niche or industry and I would sell the mentions. Any pointers for this direction. Thanks for the knowledge.

Absolutely. I was building some Local GEO subs before I sold out actually.

And I used to do AM'ing so I understand the idea of where you're going.

If you can maintain the subs, very wise idea.

You can apply the knowledge shared here and begin to test. Dont share your account/subs with anyone that doesnt' have a VERY WELL established reputaiton.

Too much stuff going on ... "Subreddit pirates" and other nonsense.

The million dollar question nobody else spoke. Smart man.

For every account, I used a different browser. I never logged out of accounts. If a ban happens I wont use that browser again unless I reformat the computer
Do you use completely different browsers such as just 1 for chrome, 1 for edge, 1 for firefox, etc. or do you use profiles on chrome and edge(or some of other browser if it offers them)?

1 account = 1 browser

Never another account will be used on the browser unless I reset the computer.

Now, however. I've partnered with someone that's quite a bit more techical.

We're doing work that incudes my techniques but gets more technical.

reddit is pretty desperate right now, after GOOGLE and OPEN AI stopped scraping the site, so they are doing things to force real"users" into site, also they are messing with old reddit , so they probably banning any form of botting,s pamming they can find.

Absolutely. Public panels = people tossing their money in a burning dumpster

We’ve heard that the recommended ratio is roughly 10 regular comments for every 1 promotional comment. How often should we post comments to maintain this ratio? (once a day? more or less frequently?)

I don't think this is relevant anymore. We're now dealing with AI driven, sitewide moderation, with AI driven subreddit moderation underneath. These have been trained on billions of posts, spam posts, bot accounts, networked accounts etc, all those posts and patterns of behaviour are what it's working off. I think it's nigh on impossible to market on Reddit now. Even if something works now, it won't come the next update.

Reddit are desperate for people to pay for ads, they're an IPO company. Google don't send them the traffic anymore and Open AI have all but stopped citing them. It's not surprising they're doing what they're doing.

But does that mean even real users aren't allowed to mention a product? I find that hard to believe. There must be a way.

As for ads, I wish they worked for me so I wouldn't have to resort to black hat tactics. I tried them last year, and they were disappointing, to say the least.

I've had subs I was removed from that are so good, they are still active today with no moderator. Actually, quite a few .

How is that even possible? Subs without a moderator are banned instantly by the system. Can you show me any sub that is active and has zero moderators? Doesn't have to be your previous ones...any sub.

There's no true rule to this but it's good practice to blend

You can def mention products and do 'influencer marketing' in the comments

the term is 'shilling'

I used to manage single brands in about 40 different groups DAILY.........................

But you need to really know what you're doing

Definitely aren't. Tons of unmoderrated subs out there.

If they go unmodderated for a long enough time , usually they do the limited but surprisingly, some of mine have not.

Any service/way to promote products without using own accounts?

Yes but more public panels are just you throwing money into a burning dumpster fire........... be careful.

What about the frequency of posting? Any rule of the thumb?

Do you ever upvote your accounts from accounts on the same IP? You mentioned before that you aren't worried about IP addresses and your most important thing is 1 login per browser. So I wasn't sure if they have separate posting or if they ever up/downvote each other or similar posts.

I dont upvote my own posts ever. No need to. I got so much organic traction, wasn't necessary.

Where are you seeing the best arbitrage opportunities right now instead of Reddit? Good luck with whatever you move onto next.

reddit only.

This is what drives me insane about Reddit, they want you to use ads, but the ad performance is shit becuse most people either have ad blocker or just scroll right past ads. I was using Reddit as a parasite, and I had a very lucrative year, now they've completely closed off that route for me, and I'm back to square one with no income.

If they had an ad option where I can choose what thread I want to make a paid post in, where I mention my brand, I would be golden, even if only take home 25% profit after ad spend, I'd do it, but oh no, it has to be ads THEIR way and where THEY wanna put it. Like you said, if their ads weren't so terrible, I would never have spammed Reddit the way I was in the first place.

Find buyers here on BHW.

Post on the Marketplace thread

A subreddit with no REAL activity should be sold low .. maybe $0.001 penny per user

A subreddit with real activity and high user activity, .......well, this can allow someone all the profitable option & merits more (up to 10 or 15 cents per user)
