If so, what types of platforms have played the biggest role in your experience?

Dating apps
Forums
Q&A platforms
Social media (Instagram, etc.)
Other?

Yes, I was chatting locally on a certain website - there were different kinds of chat rooms, where random/registered people can speak - talk.
There was this "society room". Where I met someone, and we talked.
After that, we continued talking on "Windows Live Messenger".
We have now been together for 18 years after those events.

I don't think there are chat rooms like that anywhere. People use Tinder and their phones for everything. So chat rooms are dead.

Twice. First one was from Interpals waaay back when (idk what that site is now, wasn't a dating site that's for sure. Social media was the other one. Both times, I never really set out looking for a partner, it just sort of turned out that way. I don't know if dating apps are the way to go, I've only ever heard bad experiences with bots on those so I never bothered.

Facebook is an underrated dating app. I use it a few times. Now, this might not apply to your country/city.
