How often do you guys update your guest post lists?

I run the whole list once a month and check traffic. If traffic dropped by half over a couple of months or the site started taking posts from anyone, it's out. Those usually get deindexed soon after.

Once a month sounds fine, but I wouldn't remove a site just because its traffic dropped. I'd check which pages lost traffic first, is it just a few articles or the whole site? But yeah if they start publishing anything just to sell links, I'd avoid them even if the DR still looks good.

I typically conduct a check once a month; however, I will also perform additional checks if requested by a client or if the need arises—the specific approach to these checks will depend on the actual situation.

I prefer to check my guest post list at least once a month, especially traffic, pricing, and whether sites are still accepting posts. I also recheck everything before placing an order since things can change pretty quickly. It saves time and helps avoid surprises for clients.

Keeping a big list of sites is easy, but making sure all the details are still accurate takes time.

Sites change prices, lose traffic, stop accepting guest posts or sometimes disappear completely.

I prefer to check my list regularly so I don’t run into these issues when a client places an order.

How often do you guys check your site lists? Every month, once in a while or only when a client asks for a site?
I review the list monthly and recheck traffic, pricing, and availability before placing an order. Metrics can change quickly, so I dont rely on an old spreadsheet alone. Keeping notes on each site’s niche, traffic,

Monthly reports should be used as a base, but I would recommend monitoring the GSC between audits as well. In case of any sudden drops in clicks, problems with indexing, or strange ranking fluctuations, that’s when we would take a look at our site.

I keep a separate list for sites that have stopped replying, so I do not waste time contacting them again.

A monthly review makes sense, but I’d also flag sites whenever their traffic or backlink profile changes noticeably. That way, you’re not waiting for the next audit to catch a site that’s no longer worth using.
Yes, waiting for a month is too late when the site is already losing most of its traffic due to other factors or when it is putting up spam outbound links. I will set up alerts for changes and conduct a quick review before using the site.
