Do AI writing tools leave hidden watermarks in generated text?

I've recently come across discussions about AI writing tools potentially leaving hidden watermarks or invisible characters in generated content.

Is there any truth to this? Can Google or other platforms identify AI-generated content through hidden watermarks, even after the text has been edited or rewritten?

That has also occurred to me what i understand is that invisible characters and text watermarking through AI are two separate issues i am interested in knowing if these can be easily erased by ordinary editing, and how effective is the AI detection process

Leave a mark. It is traceable and detectable for that reason.

I've heard that too, but I think formatting the text in editor or pasting as text before rewriting solves the problem.

However, besides tiny codes or anything at all, AI-generated articles have patterns which humans can detect easily, so I think big tech companies like Google and others can do as well.

Some tools may add hidden characters, but there’s no universal AI watermark. Detection methods exist, though they aren’t always accurate.

Not all AI tools add hidden characters, and AI detectors aren’t always accurate.

yeah theyre different. invisible characters go away with a plain text paste. the real watermark is in the word choices, light edits dont remove it but a heavy rewrite mostly does

Some tools may insert invisible Unicode characters, but there’s no universal hidden watermark in AI text.

Google can’t reliably identify AI content just by checking for those characters.

That caught me off guard. GeeLark AI's point that Google can't reliably spot AI text from hidden characters alone makes the whole watermark worry feel smaller than I feared.

to be honest, there’s really no need to worry too much about invisible watermarks. It’s mostly that the problem with such content is its relevance either valuable or unique in comparison to everything that one could possibly find elsewhere on the web. Instead of trying to find out how an ai detects content, use valuable examples.

Sure, before adding the text it is a must to edit it a bit but I know some companies that simply generate content and publish it as it is. It looks like a real bull....t, so to say

although the first portion of the AI-generated content looks great, but when the whole article is read, it is known that the content is repetitive. hence, I have made some change nd added some of my examples.

At least it's said so - they leave watermark on AI generated texts and pictures. Another AI can find them.

as far as I know, there isn't any common watermark among all AI-based writing helpers, and AI detectors cannot be considered reliable too. maybe some AI-based writing helpers do use invisible characters, but that doesn't mean that they apply text watermarking to the text. normally, I think it is more important that the text is generic than invisible. For me, it is easier to rewrite the text using the real-life ex .

Maybe and maybe not. There can be some truth to it. But I am certainly not worried about it coz I write instead of edit. So when you write, you're not associated with removing AI mark or getting caught by some random tools. Google values good content (and not generic content). So if you can write, this is a question that shouldn't be bothering you.

Some tools may insert invisible characters, but that's different from a reliable watermark embedded in AI generated text. Google doesn't rely on a universal hidden text detector. Focus on originality, factual accuracy, and usefulness rather than trying to remove supposed AI traces.

google has not said it uses hidden watermarks to detect AI content, so I would not worry too much about it.
