Describe your experience when updating old content, working on search intent, internal linking, and updating old content to help you get better rankings and organic traffic than writing new articles.

yes this is what i've been doing recently because of my niche, it has always been about different offers and update and if i havent updated the old content i am sure google wont even rank it

Updating old pages makes more sense when they already get impressions but aren't performing as well as they could. Check which queries have dropped in Search Console and see if the page still matches what people are searching for. Just changing the publish date probably won't do much.

Updating older articles has been more effective for me than publishing new ones but i still publish new content when there’s a gap

I generally start with Google Search Console, where I update pages that have impressions but lack clicks. Fixing gaps in intent and adding internal links to them has generally proven to be a more effective strategy than creating another article with the same keyword.

that's a great opportunity i have experienced but i also update off page SEO of my old articles

Sometimes rankings improve but traffic stays low, so I also check whether the page is targeting the right keywords.

Absolutely, just because you rank higher does not necessarily guarantee more traffic since you could have a keyword that gets very few searches. I would definitely look at your queries and impressions in GSC.

I’ve seen old articles perform much better after a proper update. I usually refresh outdated info, match the content with search intent and add relevant internal links. Sometimes, these simple changes bring more traffic than publishing a brand new article.

Well, I don't think completely rewriting old content will help it rank. But keeping content updated over time through content refreshes is a ranking factor. Based on my own experience you should keep updating your content but don't change everything from A to Z, as that can also lead to a drop in rankings.

one thing that worked for me was merging a few thin old posts into one stronger page and redirecting the rest to it. it moved faster than any new article i wrote, prob because the old url already had some links pointing at it. just keep the original url the same when you refresh it
