Forum backlinks still offer value not as direct ranking powerhouses, but as a way to drive targeted referral traffic, build niche authority, and create natural contextual links that search engines recognize when they’re genuinely helpful rather than spammy.

They still have some value, but not like before. I see them more as support links rather than something that will move rankings on their own. If they’re relevant and placed naturally, they can help a bit. But I wouldn’t rely on them heavily, better to mix with other types of links.

Forum backlinks still work in 2026, but only as support links. They don’t boost rankings much, but can help with traffic and backlink diversity if used naturally.

it’s more about using them naturally and on relevant threads rather than spamming links everywhere. Focus on adding real value to discussions first, and treat the backlink as a small bonus rather than the goal. When done carefully and consistently, they can still help a bit over time.

stop being AI for fucks sake! F**ing one-question spammers!
And yes, forum backlinks are still worth it, for the residual traffic alone if for no other reason. But you obviously need to get them from posts that get traffic, otherwise they're useless in terms of SEO...
And stop spamming! Actually, stop being AI by decommissioning yourself!

Forum backlinks still have a place, but the game's changed a lot. Most forum profile links or signature links get nofollowed or stripped of value now Google's been pretty good at discounting those since way before 2026. Where I still see them work is contextual forum replies (like this one) on relevant, active communities where a real human would naturally drop a link think niche forums, not spam-farmed ones.
Forum backlinks still can be useful, but not in the traditional sense of spamming the forum. The relevant discussion within reputable forums can yield referral traffic and other benefits.
The important thing is relevancy and quality. Fewer backlinks from specialized communities are more effective than hundreds of forum/profile links.

Forum backlinks will indeed remain valuable in 2026 if they are created through the right forums and real conversations. Forum backlinks work well in building referral traffic and brand visibility apart from link juice.
Mass profile backlinks and spamming should be avoided.

Spamming forum links for PageRank is dead. Google ignores them completely. The only value today is driving real referral traffic by dropping helpful answers in active communities like Reddit.

Contextual forum mentions in active threads are still valuable for topical authority, entity mapping, and direct referral traffic from SERPs where forum discussions rank high.
And thus making them a better part of your SEO campaign.

forum backlinks can still prove useful when they happen to take place naturally in the course of the discussion on the topic. I would like to know if there would be any traffic from this link considering the discusion.
forums have always been a bit of a mixed bag for me.the link from an old but lively forum thread within ur niche might hold much more value than linkking to multiple forums that are just random.i would make the contribution the priority nd leave the backlink as a bonus.
to be quite frank, I would value one link coming from a live forum in your industry more than hundreds of other random profile links. have you ever tried checking the traffic from forum links, or is it just about SEO?
