1. Is the business genuinely serving that location?
2. Does the page contain useful location-specific information?
3. Are the address and contact details accurate?
4. Can visitors find the relevant services easily?
5. Is the page substantially more useful than a town-name variation?

Creating a separate URL for every nearby town isn't automatically a good strategy

Build pages when they serve real users and provide meaningful information.

Exactly. I’d focus on whether each page genuinely helps someone in that area. Useful local details, relevant services and accurate contact information matter much more than simply changing the town name.

Also check whether each location page targets a different search intent or just repeats the same services with a different town name. If several pages offer almost identical information, it may be better to improve a few strong pages rather than create more URLs. For local SEO, useful content and a clear reason for each page matter more than the number of location pages.

Two checks Id put before all five.

First, search Search Console queries for the town name. The homepage or main service page often already shows for “service + town”, and a new page just splits that between two URLs.

Second, if the business has no address in that town, the page shouldnt pretend it does. Directories copy whatever address is on the page, and the customer who drives there is the one who pays for it.

When a town does earn its own page, what do you put on it that couldnt go on the service page?

Exactly! I think the main focus should be on whether the page actually helps potential customers. Simply changing the town name on multiple pages isn't going to make them valuable.

I've seen many websites create dozens of location pages with almost identical content. I'd rather focus on a few quality pages that genuinely target the right audience and provide useful information.

Well said! I think the important thing is to make each location page relevant to the people searching in that area. If there's nothing unique or useful to add, creating a separate page probably isn't worth it.

Great breakdown especially if you offer rank and rent services!
