I have a travel site offering tours for few countries. Made a year ago and only now it got picked up by Google and getting traffic. Got few bookings but not that much.
Tbh I am swamped and overwhelmed with what to target as I do partner with tour operators, then publish blogs, tour pages, do SEO, publish on social media, find backlinks opportunities and on and on.
Most of it I handle with Claude and even then it’s mind boggling. Super overwhelming honestly.

My main question is if you had a tour website and getting some traffic now what is the one thing you would focus on post to increase tour bookings asap with highest potential?

Asking because I wanna focus on one thing hard to bring results so can increase revenue and then invest that in marketing and hiring people.

To increase the number of bookings on a travel website—in terms of both conversion rate and total booking volume—I would employ a comprehensive optimization approach, encompassing user experience (UX), pricing strategy, customer trust, and digital marketing channels.

I think you need to stop posting and fix pages that are already getting traffic, there were the bookings hiding

honestly trust is the one thing that kills conversions on tour sites. if someone's never heard of you, they need to see other people had a good experience before handing over money for a tour in a foreign country. take the bookings you have, reach out, get testimonials, put them front and center on your tour pages. even 3-4 real reviews with names and photos will move the needle more than any additional content or SEO at this stage.

What do you mean by fix pages? Like add some kind of funnel to my tours there with banner or something ?

Honestly I think you are right as there have been few instances where customers asked us about our company and since it’s new they ended up not doing the tour.
Other couple of instance where customer asked us for a boat tour and ended up contacting the boat directly even when we gave them same price!

Honestly so far we only have 5 google reviews as we are so new. Should I buy Google reviews?

honestly i would prioritize refining those tour pages that currentlly receive some traffic instead of doing everything in one fell swoop. clearly outline pricing, features, customer reviews nd the booking process to eliminate unnecessary searching for basic information on these pages.given the current traffic i would first try to figure out y people leave ur website without making any bookings.

you should focus on improving the tour pages that are already getting traffic. make the price, itinerary, inclusions, reviews, cancellation policy and booking button easy to find then check where visitors drop off before booking. you may get better results from improving a few high traffic pages than creating more content right noww

If I had a travel website, which starts reciving traffic from google I would first do an audit of website, then map the possible services which I can provide to customers, then researching keywords for each service, and start creating pages for each of them with a customized template for each of them (Customized is Optional). While all this procedure I would continue link building to gain page authority, and publishing blogs on the website (The targeted Blogs, not just general).

i would compare the tours that get clicks with the ones that actually make sales. sometimes a popular destination brings traffic but does not attract people ready to spend. i would put more effort into the tours showing real booking potential nd make their pages more convincing. trying to push every tour equally sounds exhaustting, especially when u are handling most of the work urself.

In your case, it makes sense to pay for an SEO Audit
Even a 20% hike is worth it

Thanks. I feel I am good enough for seo too as have been working in this field for 2 years. But yeah I think I am so swamped with handling the whole business without anyone so might not be giving 100% into seo.

Two things lacking for me are :
1. Not enough backlinks
2. Not enough google reviews

Do you think it’s worth buying google reviews as that’s my weakest line with just 5 reviews.

My mistake was chasing more pages when the ones getting visits were half finished. VMHeaven's point about reviews front and centre hit home, since trust is the bit a new site can't fake.
So the dilemma is I need reviews to get more bookings But for more reviews I need bookings first.

It’s like chicken and egg problem for me, you know what I mean?

Do people buy fake reviews in the start or how does it go?

id checks before booking where customers have to leave, even small things such as uncertainty about Inclusions or unexpected Extra charges Can Kill the sale where the traffic Is there

Just analyse your most high revenue customers (the 20% of your 100%) and provide the best experience they can get with the price ajusted upwards. Also advertise specifically for your most wealthy clients.

That’s right; rather than writing yet another incomplete article, it’s far more effective to optimize pages which already have traffic coming in. Having genuine reviews, proper contact information, and good product information will help enormously with new visitors.
