Is AI still a bubble to some people?

The figure of 80% requires an authoritative source, tbh. AI is having an impact on cybersecurity; however, identifying security vulnerabilities doesn’t mean that one can successfully hack a website. The technology itself exists; however, much of the hype surrounding it is exaggerated.

the VC money and overvalued ChatGPT wrappers might be in a bubble, but the underlyng automation tech is here to stay. in my point of view, 80% of web content might be AI-generated , but the guys actually making money with AI aren't buying fancy SaaS sub, they're running local open source LLMs, Playwright scripts and custom API loops for mass automation

Yes, thankfully vulrabilites have been found. I don't think ai is a bubble, just the amount of people that are using it could be. I'm pretty sure before that happens they'll squeeze it in every piece of software or tech we have to get us to pay monthly for it!! Its funny how the tech has got so much better over a couple of years, but consumer costs havn't changed if you use just the web interface. They are making so much money from people splashing out on api usage. Check the decomps reddit and you'll see every day and more people backwards engineer an old game rom, and release it for free. AI is making a fortune out of people breaking the copyright and trademark laws lol

AI itself isn't necessarily a bubble, but the hype and valuations around some companies might be. The technology has real uses, though I'd question that 80% figure without a reliable source.

Cybersecurity is already evolving to combat these situations, and of course all the best cyber security experts use AI to assist them to battle threats like these.

"Bubble" doesn't mean "scam." The railways were a massive bubble in their time. The internet and telecoms in the late '90s were, too. Neither was a scam, and both fundamentally changed people's lives.
The bubble is real, and it will pop eventually. But that’s completely normal whenever a breakthrough technology like this comes along.

In short, it's heavily inflated market valuations driven by overhyped expectations. The technology itself is real and incredible, but its valuation and the surrounding hype - that's the actual bubble.

It is still a bubble. It's not about the number of sites that have been hacked. It is a matter of economics, instead. The AI infrastructure consumes an order of magnitude more resources than it generates in profit.
huh guys in my opinion, the hype definitely precedes reality in certain respects. Many companies are incorporating AI technology into their products simply for the sake of being fashionable. However, the technology itself will remain around. It will be interesting to see what technology ends up saving people time and money in the end...

Well, the fact that there is a bubble around AI doesn't necessarily mean that the technology isn't useful or that it won't change many things. Not long ago I created a thread about how we could prepare ourselves for cyberattacks and/or what we should be learning.
Now, about AI hacking almost 80% of the websites online, it's not really the AI itself, it's people using AI for malicious things, and basically PHP discovered these vulnerabilities or problems in the code with its AI (or well, that's what we're being told).
For me, AI is clearly not something temporary, but that also doesn't mean that everything that currently has the word AI attached to it automatically justifies the valuations and the amount of money being spent.
