Why do some Reddit comments suddenly start getting upvotes hours after being posted?

Usually it's a mix of timing subreddit activity and early engagement sometimes a post or comment gets picked up later when more users come online or when another high-upvoted comment brings attention back to the thread

I have noticed sometimes posts get decent views but almost no engagement. Do you think it is mainly the title, timing, or subreddit audience causing this?
Yup, usually it's a mix of all three. But in my opinion, the title makes the biggest difference. If the hook isn't strong enough, people just scroll without engaging.

According to my experience, it can be a mix of timing, subreddit activity, and how visible the comment becomes in the thread. Sometimes a post or comment gets picked up later when more users become active in that subreddit. The title and audience also seem to matter a lot. Even good posts can get low engagement if they are posted at the wrong time or in a subreddit where people do not interact much.

It's mainly due to the timing of the post and the initial upvotes. If a comment is posted early, matches the subreddit's vibe and gets quick engagement, Reddit will prioritize its display, so the upvotes only increase significantly a few hours later.

as a beginner i think If the comment adds value, people may continue voting for it even many hours after it was posted.

I've noticed this too Sometimes you think a comment is going nowhere, then suddenly people start noticing it hours later. Reddit timing is honestly hard to figure out sometimes.

Posts that get attention shortly after being published often gain upvotes quickly. Once they make it into the Hot section, the growth can accelerate even more.

Some comments get noticed later than others. As more people read the post, they may come across older comments and vote on them. Reddit also changes how comments are displayed, so votes may come in hours after a comment is posted.

Depends on the post(s).
Microworker sites take 1-3 hours to approve a task so it can easily be the reason.

Sometimes the cmnt might not be noticed immediately because the post becomes popular after a while particularly if it appears in the subreddit feed or even search results not all up votes rr immediate

occurs when the primary thread reaches the front or hot page, or is cross posted to some larger site. with the arrival of fresh eyes on the thread, buried comments are re discovered and gain traction via the algorithm.

Reddit is funny like that I’ve had an old comment get attention long after I’d moved on from the thread. By then, I’m already onto something else and barely remember writing it.
