Hey Everyone

I deactivated my Instagram account for around 4 years. when I reactivated it, I receive messages in my DMs and these msgs was received recently 2 month ago.

How it is possible if my account was deactivated ?

Could people still send me messages, or is there another reason those messages....

I am really confused , is someone using my intsa without my permission? Has anyone experienced something similar?

I'd check Instagram's login activity and emails for security alerts first. Also look at the timestamps and whether the messages are from old chats, since that can help distinguish delayed visibility from possible account access.

my guess is that the messages were actually sent before the account was deacttivated but just did not appear until u logged back into the account.however if the received messages are relatively recent, then it would definitely be wise for u to review ur login history nd even change ur password.

A deactivated account cannot receive messages, so those recent DMs mean your account was temporarily reactivated either by an unauthorized login, a connected third party app, or an accidental sign in.

When you temporarily deactivate your account, others can still send messages in existing chats, and the system will queue them, displaying the full messages once you reactivate your account.

it might be possible that the messages were sent to you only after u activated the account nd not when the account was deactivated.i would not be assuming anything right away that someone accessed ur account.it would be better for u to check the logged in devices. were the messages from someone u had a chat with before?

Instagram may show old or delayed messages after reactivation. Check your login activity to make sure your account is secure.

Either someone hacked your account so it received older messages, or people had messaged you at around the 2 month mark when you reactivated your account.

Typically, that shouldn't be possible once you have deactivated your account; please check your login history to see if someone else has been using your account.

That is very weird, i guess someone hacked you and was using the account?

No one will be able to send you messages once your account has been deactivated. it’s likely that someone else logged into your account within the last two months, you should check your login history.
