Best internal linking strategy?

I prefer manual internal linking combined with Link Whisper. Relevant and natural links work better than full automation.

What is your go to method for internal linking on a clean content site? Do you prefer doing it completely manually as you write or are you using any specific plugins that handle contextual links well without making a mess? Let me know what works best.
I would recommend that we employ the manual approach that is backed up by a well-thought-out internal linking strategy.

I will be able to manually link my pages using natural anchor text and select important pages. This process can be assisted by plugins.

Manual topical clusters every time. Dynamic plugins just spit out of context links that mess up your page hierarchy. Map out your hub pages, push link equity strictly upward from supporting articles to money pages using descriptive anchor text and audit orphan pages monthly via screaming frog.

Try building small topic groups instead of linking every article to every other article. it keeps the site structure easierr to follow.

I like a mix of manual contextual linking and SEO plugins like Link Whisper to keep internal links relevant, natural and well-structured without overdoing it.

manual as i write, linking related posts where it fits. every few months i add links from high traffic posts to newer ones. i don't let plugins auto link

I think the best way is to keep it natural. Link pages when they actually help the reader, use clear anchor text and check older posts for missed opportunities. Automation is useful on large sites, but I wouldnt let a plugin add links without reviewing them.

Manual contextual linking while writing is my method, being supported by a plugin to find relevant older posts. This keeps links natural and useful without overdoing.

I mostly prefer manual internal linking, but I also check older pages that already have backlinks or organic traffic whenever I publish something new. Those pages can help pass internal link value to relevant new content. I also review the site structure regularly to make sure important pages aren't buried too deep and every link has a clear purpose for users.

I prefer manual internal linking because it gives more control over context and anchor text I usually link related articles naturally and make sure important pages aren’t buried too deep Plugins can help but I’d always review their suggestions before applying them

I prefer a mix of manual linking and tools. I link related articles naturally to important pages using relevant anchor text, but I always review the links manually to keep them natural.

I prefer manual contextual links for important pages because relevance and anchor text matter. Plugins can help find linking opportunities on larger sites, but I wouldn't let them auto-link everything. It's easy to end up with repetitive anchors and a messy internal link structure.

I do internal linking manually. For this, I never use the same keywords. Also, I try to link my content to high-ranking content to build credibility. Also, I use inkwhisper.com to find missed options.

I do it manually because I only can judge if there are 2 pages that need interlinking within a website.

i prefer adding internal links manually because it’s easier to keep the anchor text natural and make sure each link genuinely helps the reader find related information for larger sites plugins can save time but I’d still review their suggestions and focus on linking relevant pages with clear topic relationships rather than forcing links into every paragraph

I do it manually while writing tbh. Tried plugins before, they just mess things up with random links and same anchors again and again.

I just add links to relevant posts and when I publish something new, I update 2-3 old posts to link back to it. Takes a bit of time but the site stays clean and it actually works better for me.

How many articles are we talking about here? Manual is fine up to a hundred posts or so, but past that you pretty much need some kind of tool just to track orphan pages.

Start with the reader’s next question and link to the page that answers it. Update relevant older posts to point to new articles too. Let plugins suggest links; review the placements yourself.
