Title: Google Ranks My Websites for a Few Days, Then Traffic Drops to Almost Zero – Happening on 5 Different Sites

Hey BHW community,

I'm experiencing a strange SEO issue and would really appreciate some advice from experienced members.

I've launched around 5 different websites targeting a specific digital product niche, and the exact same pattern keeps happening on all of them.

Here's what happens:

  • Google starts indexing and ranking my pages.
  • Impressions and clicks increase rapidly within a few days.
  • Some pages start getting decent organic traffic.
  • Suddenly, impressions and clicks drop to almost zero overnight.
  • The websites remain indexed, but the traffic doesn't recover.
I've tried different SEO strategies, including:

  • High-quality backlinks
  • Social media signals
  • On-page SEO optimization
  • Unique, optimized content
  • Internal linking and proper site structure
Despite all this, the same thing keeps happening across every website.

I've attached a Google Search Console screenshot showing one example: impressions and clicks rise significantly, then suddenly collapse around October 13.

My questions:

  1. Is this Google's initial ranking/testing phase for new websites?
  2. Could this be related to the niche itself, a Google algorithm issue, or some kind of filter?
  3. Has anyone experienced this pattern across multiple websites?
  4. What would you recommend to stabilize rankings and recover traffic?
I'm not expecting instant rankings, but seeing the exact same pattern on 5 different websites makes me think there's something I'm missing.

If you're experienced in SEO and have dealt with this issue, I'd really appreciate your insights.

It seems there's something you're doing wrong which Google frown at. When was this, you maybe it's during the last update.

digital product niches are also heavily competitive so Google is more selective about which new sites get to hold those rankings.

same pattern on new sites with no link profile, not a filter. google gives a new domain a test run, pages get impressions on weak signals, then it recalculates and the pages with nothing holding them up fall back to where they belong. you said high quality backlinks but on 5 sites in a few weeks that cant be many. the sites of mine that kept their rankings after the test window all had a support layer, buffer pages with a few hundred links behind them pointing in. the content only ones did exactly your screenshot. so its not the niche, its that the pages have no weight yet

Seeing this happen on 5 sites sounds frustrating. I wonder if Google just needs more time to figure out which pages deserve to rank. Does this happen with older websites too, or mostly new ones?

You're seeing the drop across 5 different sites. So, you can check whether they share the same hosting, backlink sources, content patterns, or indexing issues, etc. If everything looks fine, keep publishing quality content and building quality backlinks relevant to your niche. And check the performance of those sites.

Are you using AI to create your content?

It seems there's something you're doing wrong which Google frown at. When was this, you maybe it's during the last update
the website was deployed in the first of this month

this is the standard honeymooon period where google tests new pages for initial user engagement signals before pulling them back.

Thank you Ill try that strategy

the fact that this happened on all 5 sites is what i'd investigate first. i'd compare the queries and pages that lost impressions around october 13, then check if those urls are still indexed and showing for their main keywords. if all five sites target similar queries or use the same content structure, that might be worth looking into. are you using similar templates or backlink strategies across them?
