I usually use Canva and ChatGPT. Canva is easy to use, and ChatGPT helps me come up with ideas. Both are helpful when you want to create a thumbnail without making things too complicated lol.
 
I’d focus on the thumbnail layout more than the tool itself. Photopea is also a solid free option if you want Photoshop-style editing without paying for a subscription.
