Deleting comments on YouTube hurts the video performance or not?

I also don't think that video performance will be affected, however, hate comments usually come from closed minded people that don't want to improve themselves and therefore hate everyone else.

i deleted about 200 low-quality comments in youtube studio yesterday and noticed the average view duration fell from 4:12 to 3:58, so it seems removing comments can slightly hurt performance
 
from my own channel experiments I bulk-deleted about 150 spam comments using TubeBuddy's comment manager on a 12 k-view video, and the watch-time metric stayed within a 0.2 % variance, so removing comments doesn't noticeably hurt performance.
 
Doesn't affect it but don't delete everything that just criticizes you. Take the comments serious always or else you will lose this game.

I wouldn’t worry about it tbh. Deleting comments shouldn’t hurt your reach directly. No point keeping spam and hate comments just to please the algorithm lol
