YouTube growth: does paid promotion actually help long-term?
Tried Promote, got views and subs, but engagement dropped after stopping.
Is it worth it for real audience building, or just a temporary boost?

If the viewers aren't genuinely interested in your content, they probably won't keep watching after the promotion ends. I think it's better to focus on creating videos that make people want to subscribe and come back for more.

Paid promotion can help with initial exposure, but it doesn’t guarantee a loyal audience. I’d focus on organic retention, returning viewers, and watch time first. If you use ads, promote videos that already perform well organically rather than relying on paid views alone.

the downside about paid promotions is that u get views on ur channel but u will not be able to make those same people intterested in the next upload.i would investigate the new subscribers to see if they are engaging with other videos or just coming in for the one being promoted. without any engagement i would focus more on my content first nd promote later.

It’s all about the type of content you post and if it will get the people hooked or no, paid promotion can help and there are plenty of people who got of and got their first viral video thank to paid promotions

You need to have good quality of content otherwise your viewers will not stay and watch more of your videos.

Mostly a temporary boost. Paid promotion buys views from people who didn’t choose your content, so they rarely watch more videos, and when the ads stop, the numbers fall back and etc. Thanks

I think paid promotion is good for a quick boost, but long-term growth comes from organic viewers who genuinely enjoy your content. Views are easy to buy, loyal audiences take time to build.

paid promotion can bring ppl to your channel but keeping them interested is the hard part if they don’t come back after the promotion ends those extra subs don’t mean much.
You doing it the old way it was 10 years back? First important traffic metric are the views to monetize , YT is a search engine. Use topics your niche is searching for , then you have target views to monetize and subscribers too, not the otherway around.....young channels now get thousands of views relative quick (usa traffic). Check their links in their video description, to learn how they promote their products and services via Youtube even with organic traffic.

Yeah, that makes sense focusing on what pple r actually searching for is probably a better way to grow a channel

Paid promotion is better suited for testing audience interest than for cultivating a loyal viewership. You should focus on returning viewers, watch time, and organic view counts after the promotion has ended.

Paid advertising only brings short-term spikes in views and is suitable for market testing, while sustainable growth and a loyal audience depend entirely on maintaining high-quality content to maximize views

Paid promotion can bring exposure, but long-term growth depends on content that keeps people watching.

Certainly. paid promotion is a way to start reaching an audience more quickly, but retaining that audience and increasing your view count depends entirely on you.
