So I got hit yesterday because I was using pop ups accidentally. I was thinkin if I could redirect the https://www. To https://www1.

I don’t know if anyone has tried this recently to know if Google will index and appear after doing the redirect.

Does anyone have any idea on this?

www1 is a separate host with no history as far as google is concerned, so it'll rank like a new site, and if you 301 the old one to it you'll probably drag the popup problem along. i'd remove the popups first, check security issues and manual actions in search console, and if anything's there, request a review. moving to a subdomain rarely saves anything

if your website is hit by spam update, and you did not have any subdomain for your website yet, google is not gonna treat your new subdomain as a new website, it will consider it as part of main domain (specially when you donot have subdomains in past), telling you from experience, just go for a new domain if it s hit by google update.

The pop ups has been removed

So what you’re sayin is
It is good to have a sub domain down, even if it’s not in use just incase you get hit by update right ?

redirecting to a subdomain usually carries the penalty over so fixing the popups and requesting a reconsidering review in search console is the better path.

Wit the current algorithm , do u think there’s any chance to get back on search .

My post still index but it doesn’t appear on search results . That’s just the issue man

if the drop is from popups just remove them and wait for a recrawl. redirecting to www1 won’t fix anything, the 301 carries the problem with it and you lose time on top

there's a chance. popups alone don't bury a domain. empty Manual actions means algorithm, not a penalty, so reconsideration has nowhere to go. pull the popups, submit the main pages via URL Inspection, then wait for Google to crawl again. usually a few weeks to a couple months. don't rebuild early or you won't know what fixed it

Bro, let’s be real. No one can wait for months on a probability that Google might bring the site back .

If I wait few days I’d give it up totally

Tried a 301 redirect on a test site last month and the penalty followed it. Muneed SEO's point about the penalty carrying across is exactly what happened to me. Fixing the real issue first now.

Only if you need a subdomain, I know we have seen many documentations related to subdomains, that Google treats subdomains as separate website, but, not everytime, if your have a website from years on a primary domain, then suddenly your website is hit by spam update, and you shift your website content to subdomain OR you create entirely new kind of website on subdomain its not going to rank (until this website meets next spam update, and google reconsider your subdomain based website) (as google is going to treat both the primary and the subdomain as same that time, because it was your primary domain which got hit, (your base gone hit) so you are going to face same problem after creating subdomain after spam hit on primary domain.

Or if you already have subdomains of your website which servers different kind of content, and one of these subdomain gone hit by spam update, so your other domains will not be affected (if they are not violating spam update policies). In this case if you will create a new subdomain after that spam hit your new subdomain website is going to be treated as a separate website (Most probably).

Redirecting to www1 doesn’t guarantee recovery. Remove intrusive pop-ups and check GSC for manual actions first; a ranking drop alone doesn’t prove Google penalized the site.

if the old domain was hit, the redirect can also be tagged i would test the new configuration individually first before switching all of the traffic over

Google doesn’t support such. Unless you get both separately

This method should be used cautiously redirecting to a different domain is not always going to solve the problem particularly when the same problem of pop ups persists The solution I believe would be to first address the problem that led to the penalty and then move on to a different domain.

I’d fix the pop-up issue first and check Search Console. Redirecting to a new subdomain doesn’t guarantee indexing or recovery.
