If the placement was worth it, I’d chase them once or twice. After that, I’d move on.

For me, spending too much time trying to recover one dead link usually costs more than just replacing it somewhere better.

Before building backlinks ensure that backlinks will be permanent or not. And if after that backlinks got removed or lost then don't waste time on it if the backlinks was not that relevant and high-quality. Just become consistent with building backlinks. Focus on quality and relevance.
