hey guys, i want to drive traffic from my instagram page to a personal blog. a friend told me that linking directly to a new domain in the bio will restrict the reach of my reels. should i use a bridge page like linktree, or is it completely fine to put the direct website url?

A direct website link in your bio doesn’t automatically cause a shadowban. Just make sure your domain is safe and follows Instagram’s guidelines. I’d use the direct link unless you need multiple destinations, then track your reach and link clicks through Insights

I do not think adding an outward link alone causes a shadowban
check the domain reputation and account activity first
if reach drops after adding a link
test removing it and compare the results before blaming the link

I've never seen a direct bio link alone kill Reels reach,
Reach drop usually come from other things like quality of content, posting patterns or community guidelines issues. Linktree is okay if you want multiple links, also a single direct URL still work well

i do not think a regular website link will be sufficient to cut off ur visibility by itsellf.i would worry more about how legitimate the domain is nd if the page performs well on a mobile phone. first use the direct link, monitor ur regular reels views nd use a bridge page if necessary.

One thing i done that always do the trick is to setup the ig account as commercial, and run ads (or just promote) any content you post. You won't need to invest a lot and the link will be there with no problem at all for as long as you want

have never been shown any real evidence to show that bios alone can make a person lose their reach i would rather look at how my non followers see me without linktree first

A bio link alone usually doesn’t cause a shadowban. I’d use the direct blog link if it’s safe and relevant, then check Account Status and track reach over a couple of weeks before changing anything.

personally i would leave the direct link unless there is a real problem with it. any additional click is one more reasson for people to get off the site before ever getting to ur blog. nd if u have doubts about whether the change is worth it, just look at ur numbers.

Direct links are generally fine. I’d use your blog URL unless Instagram flags the domain.

I wouldn't recommend it,it's best to keep it below the post don't try to change that or perhaps place it in the comments section of your video. That’s my take on it.

Dont simply go for Linktree because you are scared, compare the reach of ur reel before and after you add your domain if your account distribution really drops.

Put your blog URL directly in the Instagram bio, then watch your reels. I tried Linktree's free plan and saw about a 2-second load delay, so a short custom domain like mysite.page is faster and keeps the link clean.

If your blog is ready and offers a good browsing experience on mobile, you can go ahead and include the link. Adding a new domain to your bio won’t necessarily cause a drop in your Reels' reach.

A direct website URL in your bio won't cause a shadowban, but using a bridge page like Linktree is safer for new domains and allows you to track and route traffic far more effectively.

if it ws clean and the mobile loading is quick i would goes for the direct linking since the bridge just serves as one more exit point before accessing your blog.

A direct link is usually fine as long as your site follows Instagram’s guidelines A bridge page isn’t necessary unless you want to share multiple links

straight forward links to brand new domains can actually cause reach dips on brand new accounts tbh, it ws better to use a bridge page or linktree first until uhh build up some trust.

You can safely embed a direct link into your Instagram bio without affecting Reels' reach unless the domain is flagged for infringement.
