Ask one question first: Will this product return?

- Temporarily unavailable? Consider keeping the page available with clear stock information.
- Returning soon? Explain availability where possible.
- Discontinued with a genuine replacement? Consider directing users to that replacement.
- Permanently removed with no relevant alternative? Evaluate the appropriate status and whether the page should remain accessible.

The right decision depends on the product, customer needs and future availability.

Deleting product URLs too quickly can waste any rankings and backlinks they already have, if the product might return, keeping the page live with clear stock info is usually the better option.

With an increase in advance search engines and AI optimization I have seen rare out of stock products getting surfaced in SERP and AI results.

Most ecommerce webmasters are implementing "products" schema which define the status of the product availability to the search engine bots. Structured data and schema help improve the visibility of the correct instock products in the search engines.

Majorly do not remove the outofstock page from the website if the product is temporarily unavailable. Display out of stock label and display related in stock products for the users so that they can buy those products. If the page is removed, the SEO rankings and visibility will be removed from the SERP which is tough to regain in short period of time.

one of the things that i would conssider before doing anything is if it is still going to be of use even if there are no more products on it.this page may have already generated backlinks nd traffic from previous links that have been made.it is a shame to remove something that could still be useful.
