Hello everyone,

I'm interested in learning more about SEO and would like to hear from people with experience in the field.

For those who have been working in SEO for a while, what skills would you recommend beginners focus on first? Would you start with keyword research, technical SEO, content optimization, or link building

I'd appreciate any advice or personal experiences you can share. Thanks

start with keyword research and on-page SEO then learn technical SEO as you go.

The keys to becoming a successful SEO expert are the right solutions and practical experience. Build a solid foundation through keyword research, content optimization, and understanding search intent. Progress step-by-step into advanced topics like link building and technical SEO. And yes, to hone your skills, start practicing on your own website today!

Focus on link building later. You should first learn keyword research.

I'd add keeping a change log. Pick a page, write down what you're trying to improve, and record each edit with its date. That gives you something concrete to review when results change.

keep a change log from the start.pick one page and note what you want improve then record every change with date. when rankings or traffic shift later you can look back and see what might have made a difference.

Create your own

Skill for topic coverage, that will rate how much your site already covers. Then structuring based on clusters and satkittes

Skill for questions scrapping

Skill for interlinking

Skill for sourced and factual content generation

Begin by researching keywords, search intent, on-page SEO, basic SEO techniques, and useful content. Master Google Search Console to check rankings and optimize pages.

Biggest beginner mistake is learning each skill from guides with no site to test it on. Put up a small site, even a throwaway, and watch Search Console for a few weeks. It teaches indexing, which queries you show for and why a page sits where it does, all at once, and none of the skills on your list does that. Learn to read why a page ranks before you try to build anything. Link building comes last, it only makes sense once you can tell what is wrong with a page.

Start with keyword research, but pay attention to what people actually want from a search. a good keyword is not useful if the page does not answer the question.

Start with keyword research and search intent, then learn on-page SEO and content optimization. Once you understand those basics, move into technical SEO and link building. Practicing on a small website is one of the best ways to learn.

First, learn keyword research and how search engine page ranking works

I’d start with search intent and keyword research, then titles, internal links and indexing basics. Practice on a small site and use Search Console to measure progress.

I started with keyword research. I have seen broad keywords are harder to rank for, so finding more specific ones is a better starting point.
