Has it ever happened to you that a webmaster removed a backlink without warning you?

It happens sometimes, especially with paid placements. Try contact the webmaster first and ask what happened.
If they removed it without a valid reason, try to get it restored or look for another relevant site instead of wasting too much time on it.

dont wanna say it but this happens more often than it should, especially when dealing with untrustworthy site owners.
if they ghost u or refuse to restore (and u paid via Paypal/credit card) -> open a dispute immediately. I've bought one through a marketplace then report the seller to admin to get the rf

Yes, I've seen backlinks disappear without warning—I'd politely ask the webmaster, but I'd focus on earning new, relevant backlinks instead.
Yes, this is common with many websites which offers backlinks at a reasonable price. If you do a outreach and buy or get good backlinks from guest posts etc then you should keep track of those links. There is a tendency of many website to remove the paid links incase if they feel that their website is getting penalized in search due to too many outbound links from their domain.

Yes, it happens quite often in link building. That’s why I always recommend checking live backlinks periodically and confirming placement terms with the webmaster beforehand. Even then, permanent links aren’t always guaranteed.
