If you need to import email in MBOX format in bulk, refrain from using random software. Insted, use software that maintain the structure of folders and attachment nd does not corrupt the files. Moreover, when working with numerou email, problem with indexing may occur in thunderbird.

Thunderbird's own Import/Export NG add-on handles bulk MBOX imports pretty reliably and keeps folder structure intact. Just make sure to back up the profile first since large imports can take a while and you don't want to redo it if something gets interrupted.

For a large MBOX import I would use a dedicated MBOX import tool because it is much faster than importing each file manually.

For large MBOX files, you can try using a bulk import tool instead of doing it manually. Also keep a backup before importing thousands of emails to avoid data loss.

For that many MBOX files a bulk import tool would save a lot of time, just test it with a few files first to make sure everything imports properly.

If your MBOX files are in folders, a bulk import tool can save a lot of time compared with importing them one by one.

One tool worth trying is ImportExportTools NG as it supports bulk MBOX imports including files stored in subdirectories which should save you a lot of time.

Import Export Tools NG is worth checking for bulk MBOX imports into thunderbird, also make sure you back up your mailbox before importing everything.

If you have thousands of MBOX files, I would go with a Thunderbird add on rather than importing each file separately also check Import export tools ng first.
