Hey everyone, my white-hat site has expanded to over 5,000 pages, but I noticed in GSC that Googlebot is taking weeks to crawl my newly published articles. My page speed scores are green (90+ on mobile). What technical SEO steps should I check to optimize my crawl budget and ensure fast indexation without using indexing APIs?

Reducing the silo structure depth . Max three sub categories before they get to their destination

quite common issue on bigger sites; you can try some way like strengthen internal links to new posts, remove or noindex low-value pages, make sure the sitemap is clean and submitted properly.
I've seen faster indexing after improving these above

check your server log files to see where googlebot is spending time and audit any unnecessary redirects.

Update your sitemap and try to block irrelevant pages in robots.txt. It will help in saving crawl budget. also submit sitemap in GSC. You can try crawl delay.

check for duplicate URLs or pages Google doesn’t need to crawl those can waste a lot of crawl budget

I would first review the server logs before making any changes because the GSC will show the indexed pages but logs will show which areas google bot frequents and which it rarely visits.

Green PageSpeed scores are encouraging, but they don’t guarantee that Googlebot can discover every article quickly or considers every URL worth crawling.

at 5000 pages i would verify that the new posts have been linked from pages that google currently crawls and does not jsst wait for discovery through the sitemap.

Nuke your damn orphan pages, trim the fat on facet n aggressively link new posts straight from ur highest-traffic authority hubs via dynamic HTML sitemaps

check crawl stats in GSC first to see whether Googlebot is actually hitting server limits or just choosing not to crawl certain URLs. Green PageSpeed scores are good but they don’t tell you much about crawl efficiency.

Hi, check GSC crawl stats and server logs first. Improve internal linking to new articles, clean up your XML sitemap and fix duplicate URLs or crawl traps. Also, check whether the issue is crawling or indexing. What status does GSC show for your new pages?

crawl stats in GSC first, usually googlebot wastes time on tag pages, archives and parameter urls. noindex those, prune thin pages and link new posts from your busiest hub pages so they get found faster

I used to think crawl budget was only an e-commerce problem. sotsura's line that green PageSpeed scores say nothing about crawl efficiency flipped that for me. Checking my own GSC crawl stats first now.

Usually it’s not budget but junk urls eating it. block tag/filter/param pages, fix redirect chains, noindex thin stuff. check crawl stats in GSC to see where googlebot actually spends time

How long did it take you to scale to 5K pages? That could be affecting your indexing speed.

5,000 pages is not a crawl budget problem. Google says it only starts to matter around a million URLs, or tens of thousands that change daily. Weeks to crawl new posts at this size is almost always discovery and demand, not capacity. Open Crawl Stats and split requests by purpose, discovery vs refresh. If refresh eats everything, Googlebot is recrawling old pages and ignoring the new ones.

Fixes in order: link new articles from the homepage or a hub that gets crawled daily, not only from the sitemap. Clean up tag, archive and parameter URLs that multiply the crawlable count. Keep sitemap lastmod honest and only change it when the content really changes, because Google stops trusting it once it is wrong.
