Does UDP support actually matter for proxies in 2026?

Seeing more proxy providers mention UDP support lately.

Curious who actually uses it in practice. Is it important for your workflow, or is TCP still enough for almost everything you do?

Would be interesting to hear real use cases.

If you care about privacy or are into multi-accounting, you should know that WebRTC uses UDP. So you’d better make sure it has the same exit IP as your main requests to the target.
If you just block/disable it, that can be a red flag.

UDP support matters for use cases like real time communication gaming and streaming where low latency is important while TCP is still enough for many web scraping and browsing tasks

Good point about WebRTC. A mismatched exit IP can make the whole setup look inconsistent.

Yep, that’s how I see it too. TCP for most web tasks, UDP when real-time traffic matters.

TCP is honestly enough for 99% of the people, but some people need UDP as they play games which need UDP support, as most video game networking is UDP based.
Gaming is probably the clearest UDP use case. Curious if anyone uses it much outside real-time traffic.

from my experience, tcp tbh work perfectly fine on all kinds of tasks i tried for web-related stuffs till now, that is why it was not vry important for me to test udp. Just want to ask if anyone used it with residential proxies and if they noticed any improvements.
