are YouTube shorts bringing subscribers who actually watch long videos?

Yes, you can use important clips from a longer video as shorts. This will make people subscribe to your channel to watch the next part of this video.

shorts can get thousands of views but do those viewers ever watch your regular videos? i'd like to hear from creators who have tried both.

shorts audience is mostly different than the one who stays longer on long form videos. I have observed it on my channel I got 500 subscribers per week from shorts but they are of no use because they don't engage in longer videos.

long and short form are 2 very different types of audiences, generally you’ll generate more traffic with short form but the conversion rate is way lower. Mix both, that’s the best way.

In my experience, view counts on Shorts do not automatically translate into views for long-form videos. You might want to focus on tracking the number of returning viewers and the traffic to your long-form content that originates from Shorts.

Shorts aren't great to bring in viewers who watch the long videos.

Mostly no. Shorts viewers come from a swipe feed and rarely click through to long-form. On-topic Shorts that tease your long videos, with the full video linked, convert far better than random viral ones.

Some do, but Shorts viewers don’t always convert to long-form viewers. Try making Shorts around the same topics as your regular videos and see if returning viewers increase.

I also used to think YouTube Shorts would help increase views on my channel, but things didn’t turn out as expected. Shorts helped me gain a significant number of subscribers, but they seem to watch only Shorts and show little interest in my long-form videos.
