Hi guys, My older video is getting most of the traffic while my new video is barely getting any. Why does youtube do this, and is there anything I should change?

YouTube usually keeps pushing the video that gets better clicks and watch time, so give the new one time and improve the title and thumbnail if needed.

that is quite typical of utube, for it will continue to send u traffic through ur video that performs better in terms of CTR, view time nd viewer rettention regardless of whether it is old. first i would have a look at the new video's thumbnail nd title nd see how it does.

I wouldnt worry about the older video getting more traffic. YouTube already has data on that video, so it can keep getting recommended while the new one is still being tested. I’d check the new video’s CTR and retention first. If those are weak, changing the thumbnail or title is probably more useful than trying to push the video harder.

i would not be too concerrned about the older video receiving more views. if it is doing fine now, there is a lot of information at utubes disposal that says that people love it. all i would need to do is improve the thumbnail nd title of the newer video.

The algorithm already knows that the old videos perform well in converting impressions so it wont tests out the new one unless uhh make it do so by adding a banners or link to the pinned cmnt to steal those impressions away.

We’ve had this happen too, sometimes older vids just keep getting views while new ones dont, so maybe try changing the title and thumbnail a bit and see if it helps.

youtube already has data on how your older video performs so it may keep sending traffic there.try adding a card or pinned comment on that video to guide viewers toward the new upload and give it some extra exposure.
That’s pretty normal on YouTube. Your older video may already have an audience, while the new one needs time to find the right viewers. I’d check the new video’s impressions, CTR, and audience retention in Studio, then test the title and thumbnail if needed.

That happens all the time because youtube algorithm relies on historical watch time and ctr data so older videos with established engagement naturally get pushed more until your new one picks up traction.

You should create more content centered around the videos that are already generating high view counts, as this indicates that such topics attract significant interest. Focus on refining your content and improving video quality, and look for ways to refresh your ideas.

The viewer details about the previous video are already available on youtube so they know who is clicking and watching the video Ill check the retention rate and CTR for the new videos before doing any thing else.

It actually happens in one of our channels a video has got 54 million views and is still getting pumped automatically and new videos get 10-20% of that so this happens sometime
No you should not change anything and keep up the rythm because youtube is retesting your older videos and it can be good for your channel's overall growth.
My 1 year old videos are also getting 5k to 7k views per day and my channel growth increased.
