Forums are about to become valuable again for SEO

genuine community mentions can useful for visibility. they directly improve rankings without more data but being mentioned in relevant discussions can still help people discover the brand

forums useful again but genuine brand mentions will matter more than just getting backlinks.real discussions feel much more natural

forums were always valuable for one job, getting a tier 1 page crawled. a profile or a post that links to your web 2.0 gets that page fetched inside a day, i have run thousands of them for that with GSA SER /Xrummer AI and never once cared about the link itself. if the AI engines now read the same forums for opinions thats a second use for the same platform, but i would not confuse the two. one is a crawl trigger, the other is brand talk

forums can still useful for getting genuine brand mentions. real discussions works much better than dropping links just for seo

community mentions matter more as ai search grows since they give extra context beyond a brand own website.the key is to be part of relevant discussions and share something useful instead of forcing brand mentions everywhere.

The interesting part is whether those mentions change how AI describes a brand, not just whether they get cited. I'd track a set of branded and category queries before and after genuine community discussions, then compare citation frequency and how the brand gets described. Hard to prove causation, though.

Yes, we are testing.

I’m actually testing this right now with forum/community marketing, and so far it’s working very well.

From what I’m seeing, these mentions do seem to have an impact on how brands show up in AI-generated answers.

-> Long articles on medium
-> Long + short youtube videos
-> LinkedIn post
-> main site,

working and working very well

well, these days forum links are very effecting, high DA + traffic.

Thanks :)
What forums do you suggest to use apart from medium and LinkedIn?(Btw LinkedIn is considered as social media as well).

Forum backlinks are one of my preferred platforms for tier 1 and tier 2. To be honest, none of the changes to forums, social bookmarks, networks, articles, even directories have their own place and people have been using them for decades, so since they exist, other people like us can use them for ranking as well. There's no rocket science. But some people just want to give some shill noise or try to sell their fancy backlinks, and lately the new generation or new people think that those are not important. I use GSA SER and Xrummer AI heavily on forums and Xrummer is much better if you're considering only forums, but for diversity it's always best to use multiple platforms, not only forums, of course.

i think interesting part is whether these mentions help ai tools understand a brand better even when there is no link involved.being mentioned naturally in discussions where people compare products or share real experiences could make a difference. it worth watching how this develops as more studies come out.

forums useful because people share real experiences and specific answers that search engines and ai tools can pick up.

what if it is for igaming?
You pretty much have to target dead/un-moderated forums, or craft your replies so craftily that the post looks like 'genuine useful content'. Most go with spam everything and hope some of it sticks, which is actually the most economical approach.
