Well, I have come to wonder just how much time you give to a particular website before you decide that it is no longer worth your time. Some sites take a few months to show any sort of improvement while some begin showing improvement out of the blue. What makes you keep or abandon the site.

I don't abandon a website just because it takes time to grow. Sometimes, a site can remain quiet for months and suddenly start performing well. I prefer to study what is working, make a few changes, and give it another chance before making a final decision.

never really know when a site will start getting impressions or clicks. Some sites take months, and others suddenly start picking up traffic

If a site isn't performing well after a while, I wouldn't completely abandon it. I'd just put less effort into it, maybe publish one article a week

You never know. A site that looks completely dead today might suddenly start ranking a few months later.

i have never abandoned a site before but i do take my time to understand and make my research before i start being active on the site so it might take sometime

for me its all about progress. even a little increase in traffic is a good sign, so i dont give up too early. sometimes a small change in content or seo can make a big difference.

But I would not give up on a website because growth has been slow there would be indications of progress in my impressions keywords and engagement rates

I would give the website enough time to grow considering that it could have some potential and useful information for its readers but if there is still no progress then the strategy would need to be revised.

I don't abandon a website ever because the first results always "delay" from 3 up to 6 months of consistent work.

To tell the truth, I will give the website at least 3-6 months of constant effort before making my decision. If the impresions nd keyword are gradually getting better then I will keep working on the website rather than trying out a new one.

To be honest, I take into account how good the site looks like, indexing, and whether it goes in the right direction when giving up on it. If there is no development despite all the efforts put in trying various ways to optimize it, then I would change the niche altogether.

I don't abandon a site just because rankings are slow. I look for leading indicators first: impressions indexation keyword movement, and whether the content is closing the gap with competitors. If those improve, I keep investing; if nothing moves after several months despite fixing the obvious issues, I reassess the strategy before spending more. I give up on a failing approach before I give up on a website.

Yeah, but I will definitely look into GSC and see whether there is any movement in terms of impressions or ranking. Sometimes the issue may not be with the niche but with the website content itself.

Does anyone really abandon a website because of performance? It's not likely. Dormancy in website traffic and performance is an established fact. A site not performing today can still perform, you might either have to leave it alone or tweak somethings

yeah, traffic can stagnate for quite some time, so I wouldn’t necessarily remove the site if its growth was slow. First of all, I would have checked the impressions and the changes in the rank in GSC and then made the decision on the needed actions.

Give a website at least 6 months of consistent work before making a decision. If impressions, rankings, or engagement keep on increasing, continue even if traffic is still low. Consider abandoning it only when there’s little progress despite improving the content, backlinking, and SEO strategies, or when the niche outdated (if your site is niche-relevant).

For me the biggest sign would be search console. If impressions are slowly climbing even with barely any clicks but there is still something to work with

But if you've spent 6 months publishing and nothing is getting indexed or picking up impressions time to figure out what's wrong before wasting another 6 months

Traffic is a late signal, so I wouldn't judge a site by it. Watch the earlier ones in Search Console: how many pages are indexed, how many different queries show impressions, and where those queries sit on average. If queries and impressions keep growing month after month, the site is moving even with clicks flat, usually sitting on page two or three.
If everything is indexed and the query count and positions have been flat for a few months, more time won't change it, and the angle or niche is the problem. That is the point to stop adding content and either rework the angle or let it go.

some times the issue is not the site but the approach to generating revenue i would experiment with another form of monetisation rather than just killing the site

When it doesn't make sense to put more money into it
Usually, if the site takes a hit and just stays there

instead of abandoning a site completely i just scale back content frequency and let age do its work.

If impressions are growing or some keywords are moving up I’m more likely to keep investing and improve what’s already working.
