hey everyoone, I've been trying to get my clean content site fully optimized for the latest page experience updates, but my largest contentful paint keeps failing because of essential third party chat widgets and tracking scripts. for those running heavy content sites, how are you without braking site functionality?

Load the chat widget n tracking scripts after user interaction or a short delay (like on first scroll/click or ~3-5 sec), bc they ain’t needed to paint the page, n if they’re still hurtin LCP check that ur hero image isn’t lazy-loaded n got fetchpriority high

Chat widgets are usually the first thing worth delaying . Load the chat script after someone clicks the chat button instead of on every page load

For tracking scripts check the performance waterfall first because moving everything to the footer won't help much if they still block the main thread

figure out what triggers LCP in the first place, because sometimes it’s just the hero image waiting for scripts i would check each tag individually before removing tools that uhh need

Run your site through PageSpeed Insights on mobile. If LCP is over 2.5s, fix images first (compress plus proper sizing). That alone fixes most small business sites.

try loading chat widgets only when the user interacts with them. no need to load everything right away.

load the chat widget on first scroll/click or a few secs after load instead of right away. most chat tools support that, or just use a fake button that loads the real widget on click

Delaying my chat widget until first scroll after 1ststudioby's tip. Mine loads on page load right now, which is probably murdering my LCP. The fake-button trick is what I'm copying.

I'd delay non-essential scripts, load chat widgets on demand, and recheck LCP after each change to make sure performance improves without breaking features.

Load the chat widget and tracking scripts only after user interaction or a short delay. Since these third-party scripts aren't needed for initial render, deferring them frees up the main thread during critical layout creation. Additionally, if you're still suffering, verify that your hero image isn't lazy-loaded and explicitly uses fetchpriority="high" (this ensures the browser prioritizes rendering the main visual asset above all else)
