SEO Strategy for New Websites

What SEO strategy would you recommend for getting a new website’s first rankings?
I think you should start by identifying keywords with low competition, creating pages, and working on the content for them. It's better to do it well right away without AI, or to get minimal AI. Don't forget about internal linking and backlinks either. But I advise against aggressive link building at the start. Just a few high-quality links will be enough.

start with low competition long tail keywords and build a solid core of content around one topic. get the technical basics right early (sitemap, speed, clean structure), then add a few relevant links once there's something worth linking to

For a new website, start with long-tail, low-competition keywords and publish helpful, SEO-optimized content. Fix technical issues, build strong internal links, and gradually earn relevant backlinks. Set up Google Search Console to monitor indexing and early rankings. Don't rush backlinks; focus on relevance and consistent quality.

I would begin with solid technical SEO, low competition keywords and good content based on search intent.

I would then focus on building internal links and then quality and relevant backlinks slowly.

Step by Step Complete Things - working in 2026

Any new website has to go through a "warm-up period."

When you have a new website, publish 2-4 articles weekly and continue doing that for 2-3 weeks.

It's important that you don't publish more than a couple of articles per week. It's also important that you publish those articles at different times of the day.

After the first 2-3 weeks, you should set up your social media pages. Once your social media pages are set up, and only then, begin with basic link building.

For link building, it would be best if you could do it yourself, as you would be able to build links more meaningfully that way.

Simply search for your keyword/niche on Google, and then engage in any discussions you can find. Leave comments where you think you can add value to the discussion. If you can dedicate 2-3 hours daily, you should be able to build 4-5 links per day yourself. Continue that for a month, and you should end up with quite a few nice links and some rankings.

In the beginning, if you want to buy links, press releases are good stuff. While many people advise against foundation links, I have found them to be one of the most underrated things in the SEO world. Just make sure you're not getting hundreds of foundation links quickly. Build them slowly, meaningfully, and naturally, and it should work out.

For your website's content, aim to cover a few keywords in detail so that you can build good topical authority, and you won't be disappointed.

If you can cover 56 different types of keywords on your website, each in detail, you'll end up with around 20-30 articles in total. I have never seen any of my websites fail to get at least some rankings or traffic after publishing 20-30 articles.

Remember, everything mentioned in this post should take you at least 1-2 months to complete.

Doing things too fast is a surefire way to fail, as the Google "warm-up" period is real.

Hope it helps
:)
