Changing one keyword match type changed my PPC traffic

Hi members,

I am new to this forum and currently facing issue with my PPC campaigns.
I changed the match type for one of my keywords and noticed the traffic pattern changed a lot after that.
the number of clicks, search terms, and even the type of visitors seemed diffrent. I did not change anything else in the campaign. is this normal when changing match types, or is there something else I should check?
Yes, that's normal. Changing match type can drastically change which search queries are eligible, so review the search-terms report, negatives, bids and conversion quality before making any more changes.

Yes, even a simple match type modification can have a dramatic effect on traffic. It affects the searches that can lead to ad impressions, so make sure to check all these factors afterwards.

Yes, match type can change the traffic quite a bit because your keyword can start entering different searches.

This is true since keyword match type changes might affect your search reach, traffic quality, and cost; therefore, you should always check your keywords before changing your bids.

Its normal, especially if you switched from exact to phrase or broad match. Google can match your keyword to different searches depending on the match type. Check the search terms report and conversion data before making more changes.

Sometimes the new search terms reveal what people actually understand from your keyword. That can help you find better negative keywords.

This makes perfect sense; match type impacts what searches make your advertisements show up. Make sure you analyze the search terms, click-through rate, and conversion rate before making the change.
