does deleting performing posts hurt an account?

Deleting a few posts probably wont hurt much, but if they still bring engagement, its better to leave them up or archive them if possible.
 
i've deleted a couple of top reels on a client's ig and reach dipped for about a week, then went back to normal. archiving instead didn't cause any dip. did you see the drop right after deleting?
 
It can hurt your growth, especially if the posts are still attracting new people to your account. Removing them may reduce the content people can discover and engage with, although the exact effect varies by platform
 
the dip people see after deleting isnt the account getting penalised, its just that an old post that was still being pushed to new people stops being pushed. archiving does the same thing btw, distribution stops either way so its not really the safer middle ground. only real reason to archive over delete is if u think u might want the post back later
