Hey guys,
Do you upload the same video to TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, or do you edit it for each platform?
Have you noticed any difference in organic reach? Does cross-posting work well, or is platform-specific content a better strategy?
I'd love to hear your experiences and what works best for you.

I prefer creating one main video and then adjusting it for each platform. It saves time without making the content feel too generic.

i usually reuse the same video on all three, but change the caption and opening a little to fit each app. saves time, and you can see which platform responds better without making 3 videos from scratch tbh

We're also repurposing the same content cross-platform, changing from carousel format to slideshow, depending.

Traffic has been bad so far though.

Cross-posting is fine for reach, we do this all time, fully automated from iPhones and we actually see good results. Good luck with the posting

I tried that for a while too. Reels with another app's watermark seemed to do worse for me, so I'd crop it out or change the cover and sound. Can't say it always helped, though.

Most people still cross post the same video and it works okay for a while, but the platforms are getting better at spotting recycled content.

A few small tweaks for each one (different hook, captions, or crop) usually gets better organic reach than dumping the exact same file everywhere.

Generally nothing bad will happen if you cross post on IG reels/TikTok/Youtube Shorts as long as your content is original. There isn't a collaborative "search engine" where TikTok for example will be able to know if you've posted the same video on IG, but inside TikTok for example, you definitely would need to post original content in order to avoid DMCA strikes.

That makes sense. Adjusting the format and style for each platform while keeping the main content saves time. Have you noticed which platform gives you the best organic reach?

depends on account age tbh, new accounts get shadowbanned hard if u just dump the same content everywhere but aged ones handle it fine. noticed IG reels especially sensitive to exact reposts so switching up the format there matters more than the others

Have you noticed which changes make the biggest difference in reach: changing the hook, captions, or cropping the video?

biggest risk i saw wasn't the repost itself, it was identical metadata and audio fingerprint across all three. export clean from the editor, not the app, and swap the first 2 seconds per platform

Have you tested this across all three platforms, and did changing the first two seconds make a noticeable difference in reach?

Great question! From my experience, a hybrid approach works best: same core video, small tweaks per platform.

A few things that made a real difference in organic reach:
- Always upload a clean file without watermarks. Instagram has said it deprioritizes Reels with visible watermarks from other apps.
- Adjust the first 2–3 seconds. The hook that works on TikTok doesn't always land on Shorts or Reels.
- Re-add text and captions natively in each app so they sit inside the safe zones and don't get covered by the UI.
- Use each platform's trending audio and its own hashtag/keyword style. YouTube Shorts leans more on titles and search.

Cross-posting is great for saving time, but light platform-specific edits usually get noticeably better results.

If you're managing multiple accounts across these platforms, keeping them organized and separated also helps a lot. That's what we built Hidemium for: each account runs in its own browser profile, so you can switch between them easily. Happy to share more if anyone's interested

well.. cross-post with the same video still good.
I mostly do the same core video and just tweak the captions or first 3 seconds for each platform. pure identical uploads still get decent reach, especially if the content is strong, but native feeling versions usually perform a bit better ;)

It works fine as long as you strip watermarks and export raw MP4 files directly from your editor. Uploading a video with a tiktok logo straight to reels will kill your reach instantly.

Do you mean organic reach on fresh accounts or established ones? I'd expect cross-posting to behave very differently on a brand new account with no history.

Have you found that changing the hook makes a bigger difference in reach than using platform-specific audio?

I usually think cross posting is fine but making small edits for each platform can work better since the audience and content style are different on TikTok Reels and Shorts

Have you noticed whether changing the first 3 seconds consistently improves reach, or does it depend more on the type of content?
