Quick question for SEO people. If you could track only 3 metrics for a website, which would you choose?

Traffic, rankings, backlinks, conversions, or something else?

And which SEO metric do you think people care about too much? Curious to hear your opinions.

I would be tracking organic click throughs, leads or conversions and pages underperforming even before the drop in traffic. Rankings look gd in reports but they dont earn money if there is no conversion lol

organic clicks, organic conversions (leads or sales), and click-through rate

as for me it were the pages going from page 2 into striking position, organic leads and returning searchers where traffic may appear healthy, yet the website has no one to convert lol

I would track qualified organic enquiries, impressions for the pages that actually matter and whether those pages stay indexed. Raw backlink counts are easy to inflate and tell you very little unless the linked page gains visibility and brings the right traffic.

for a local business id swap one of those for calls. GBP shows calls and direction requests, and for a lot of trades thats where the leads are, the site barely gets touched.

so calls, direction requests, leads from the site.

overrated is DR. easy to inflate, tells you nothing about whether the phone rings.

what kind of site are you tracking?

organic clicks, conversions and indexed pages. rankings and DR get way too much attention, they don't mean much if the traffic isn't converting

I would monitor non-brand clicks, lead or sales conversions and pages that are declining prior to crashing link numbers are way overrated because no one cares whether those links convert other than improving their DR.

Organic conversions/revenue, GSC impressions+CTR, and non-brand clicks, n the metric ppl obsess over way too much is DA/DR, it’s a fkn vanity number 3rd-party tools made up that Google doesn’t even use, yet half the industry still treats it like gospe

I'd track organic traffic, conversions, and keyword rankings. Traffic shows growth, rankings help spot opportunities, and conversions tell you whether SEO is actually bringing results. People often focus too much on rankings alone.

91goals calling DA/DR an overhyped vanity metric made me wince. I was refreshing that score daily like it meant something. Non-brand clicks and conversions tell me way more now.

I’d track organic clicks, conversions, and indexed pages. These show if people are finding the site and taking action.

Organic traffic is the most important metric, followed by conversion rates and keyword rankings.

In my opinion organic traffic, keywords ranking and conversions are all important. But, Organic traffic is the priority in comparison of rankings as what matters the most is whether SEO brings the right visitors and turn them into real customers.

My priority would be organic traffic which leads or sales and keyword rankings either from ads or brings customers. this helps knowing if the SEO work is improving in the right direction.
I dont care about DA/DR its just market termanology which do not helps SEO

I would focus on search impressions, clicks, and conversions. good rankings matter, but the traffic and results they bring are more important.

Traffic, rankings, LD/RD ratio. I would also add keywords ranking and organic clicks

Gimme conversions, organic revenue, and CTR, cuz tracking fk keyword rankings is a total vanity bs that don't pay ur damn bills.

Yes, i agree with everything that was said, trafic depend if you have informational or transactional trafic at first.
The first one will be CTR, but you need to have a good ranking at first. And then the conversion of users to customers.
