Does anyone have a tool that reliably measures the citations / share of voice for a brand and is affordable?

Been trying a few, but once you want it to track say 30-40 prompts and the fan-out queries then you are into a few $100 a month.

Help and suggestions would be appreciated

i am also interested in finding an affordable option for this tracking 30 40 prompts can get expensive quickly so it would be useful to know if anyone has tried a tool that gives reliable citation data without the high monthly cost.

The price climbs because the tools re-run every prompt several times across engines, and those repeat runs are the part you actually need. One run of a prompt is noise, the cited sources change between runs. If budget is the problem, do it yourself for the 30 to 40 prompts.
Run each a few times through the API, log which domains get cited, and track citation share per prompt over time, not one blended score. Fan out queries you can add by hand for your main prompts only. Not hard to script

I’d suggest trying a combination of manual prompt tracking and a lightweight spreadsheet to monitor brand mentions, citations and competitor visibility.

Most tools get expensive at scale, so test smaller batches first and focus on consistent tracking before paying for a full platform.

Have you tried Rankscale? It looks like a relatively affordable option for tracking AI citations and visibility. Also, curious if anyone has tested how accurate these tools are compared to manually checking the same prompts.

Tracing 30 to 40 prompts certainly adds up, particularly when considering citations on various AI tools. It would be better to begin with fewer high-intent prompts and compare the information with manual review before investing in an expensive solution.

the truth is, once you start tracking additional keywords, things will become vry costly quite soon. My advice would be to use an Excel table initially and track those keywords manually at least once or twice a week. compare them nd identify the brands along with their origin based on the searche . It takes more effort, but you won’t have to pay a few hundred dollars monthly.

Plz give a look to this tool.

Mentionable (dot) AI

Thanks

Spent weeks hunting for a cheap tracker myself. PyMaster's spreadsheet idea sounds slower, but it beats paying hundreds a month before I even know which prompts matter.

I am trying to find a cheap way of doing this as well maybe it is time to start off small by doing some manual searches on fewer keywords that will still help to get an idea of how things are going it would be really nice to know if any budget friendly tool has been used that can provide consistent results

If you try a tracker, ask for a raw export of every run: prompt, model version, country, timestamp, answer and cited URLs. That lets you check whether its share-of-voice score is repeatable before paying to track all 40 prompts.

What is the actual reason to look for citation share queries? To me, it seems like a completely pointless thing to do. I really don't get it. Can someone explain this? If you are still targeting classic search engine rank positions, those are exactly what will inevitably rank for GEO /AEo as well. Because AI citations are pulled directly from the search engine itself. If it were me, I'd just use that money to build backlinks.

I've been looking for something similar. I think tracking that many prompts and fan-out queries can get expensive pretty quickly. Maybe using a combination of a cheaper tracking tool and some manual checks could work, although it would take a bit more time.

^ This. AI search cites pages that are already indexed by Google and Bing. So you time is better spent on getting your pages ranked there, and the citations will naturally follow (albeit with churn: https://www.sistrix.com/blog/measuring-ai-visibility/).
When AI search starts citing pages that aren't indexed by Google or Bing is when prompt tracking becomes interesting.
