Before creating any backlinks, I believe one should check which pages have the highest rankings, how the linking profile looks, and what type of content is being rewarded by Google. What checks do you normally make before creating backlinks?

mine is usually about the ranking and if people are staying long enough to take actions, depending on the niche

i am still studying seo but would first make sure that the website was indexed, that the content was useful and that there were no problems with its performance would also check the niche and the competition for building backlinks.

before link building i would verify that the website is completely prepared for users in terms of content nd user experience. in case of backlinking i would verify the relevance of the website as well as any real acttivities on it, rather than looking only at domain metrics.

Same thing you most likely know. Traffic, backlinks, relevance of those two. Then relevance of site content to mine.

In general, whether the site is already taking off
For me, it's unique visits per month

I’d check indexing, content quality, technical SEO, and competitors’ backlink profiles first. Then focus on relevant, quality backlinks instead of just high DA.

Before building backlinks I usually check a few things:
  • Top-performing pages
  • Backlink profile
  • Competitor analysis
  • Content quality
  • Link relevance
  • Technical SEO
I prefer focusing on relevance, quality & long-term value rather than simply increasing backlink numbers. Building links without understanding the website's current position can waste both time and budget.

Most of the checks in here are on the link source. On a brand new site the ones that save you money are on your own side first.

Three I do not skip:

  • Is the target page actually indexed? Pointing links at a URL Google has not picked up yet means you spend weeks measuring nothing.
  • Lock the URLs before you buy anything. Slug changes after placements land turn paid links into 301s, and you lose the clean read on what worked.
  • Decide the target split up front. New sites usually have no inner page strong enough to hold a link, so the homepage carries the early stuff and the inner pages get fed later once they rank for something.

Relevance beats RD count on a new domain, because a fresh site has no profile to dilute a bad link into. One off-topic link on a 6-month-old site is a much bigger share of the profile than it would be on an aged one.

For reference, a Canadian trades site I work on sat at DR 43 with 1,818 monthly organic and 39 terms in the top 3 -> that came from a slow drip onto a frozen URL structure, not from a big first month.

Before creating backlinks for a landing page, I typically analyze metrics such as visitor rankings and high-performing content to optimize performance and assess the competitive landscape for link building.

creating backlinks are done for new website pages which are getting new content update in relevant keywords to secure traffics and index of the keyword in serp, there are different method im creating backlinks which include do follow and no follow pages to share links of keywords and keyword content for popularity purposes and ranking.
