How much does question selection matter compared to answer quality on quora?

I’m still new to Quora, but I’m wondering if the age of a question matters too.

A question that has been around for a long time might already have a lot of answers, while a newer question may have less competition at the start.
Yeah but I wouldn't avoid old questions just because they have lots of answers. If one is still raining on google I'd answer that

question selection probably matters more at first, even a great answer wont do much if nobody is searching that question tbh.

I would say question selection comes first, but answer quality is what keeps people reading. Even a great answer won’t do much if the question gets no views. Finding questions people are already interested in makes a big difference.

I’d probably check how active the question has been lately. If people are still answering and discussing it, I’d take that as a good sign.

Still figuring out Quora myself.
This will help you analyze the situation. The other thing that you can do is to see if there are any recent views or activity in the discussion forums.
