my cost per click has shot up significantly this month for my main target keywords. i am trying to optimize the campaign without losing top visibility, but the daily budget is burning out way too fast. How are you guys adjusting your bids or targeting when competition gets this crazy.

Try reducing bids during the hours that spend a lot but bring very few leads.

I'd check the search terms and Auction Insights first. Cut keywords wasting money, add negative keywords, and adjust bids by device and location. Staying at the top isn't worth it if your cost per conversion keeps rising.

you can also test different ad schedules and locations if your data supports it. sometimes a few hours or locations eat most of the spend. shift more budget to the segments that convert instead of increasing bids across the board.

Personally, I prefer getting cheaper clicks that convert over paying extra just to stay in the top position.

Have you compared mobile and desktop results lately? The cost and conversion rate can be quite different.

Sometimes long tail keywords bring cheaper clicks and more specific visitors than main terms.

when cpc goes up, i think its better to focus on profitable keywords instead of trying to stay at the top for everything. check which ones are actually bringing sales and adjust bids from there.

When CPC goes crazy, I usually look at the keywords that are eating most of the budget. Lower bids on the expensive ones that dont convert and put more focus on terms that are actually bringing sales.

The first step to managing high CPC is to optimize keywords, ad relevancy, test landing pages, and pause unproductive placements. Don't worry about clicks, focus on conversions.
Yeah, CPC reduction isn’t going to mean much if you’re not getting conversions from those clicks. I would analyze my search terms and conversions at the placement level before doing any changes.

It all depends on the ad platform you are using. If you are using google, try creating new campaigns with phrase correspondency (use "keyword" insted of keyword without "). If you are running your ads in meta, change the creative. Since andromeda, basically creatives are what look for your correct potential public.

But above everything always remember: if the campaign is profitable, don't change it, even more if it's in meta.

Google is an auction, bro. The higher the competition, the higher the cost per click. This cannot be avoided without losing the quality of traffic.

Instead of increasing bids to compete with everyone, try targeting long tail keywords with lower competition. They may bring less traffic, but the visitors could be more likely to convert.

Try targeting specific locations where you get better results. Broad targeting can waste a lot of budget in competitive niches.

if cpc jumped this month, check auction insights first to see if competition actually increased. then split your best converting keywords into their own campaign and control bids separately. no point spending extra just to stay at the top if those clicks arent profitable
