What is the more important for backlinks in 2026.

If you are increase your site backlinks your SEO is more valuable in google. if you had choose only one would you pick high DR or topicle relevance
what are you reasons.

If I had to choose only one I’d go with Topical Relevance. High DR is good but a backlink from a relevant website is more natural and valuable. For me Relevance > DR.
 
Relevancy is more important. High DR looks good but it doesn't help much if the site is unrelated to your niche.
 
I will definitely go with Topical relevance since my entire goal is ranking and prominence in authority.
 
I’d pick topical relevance over DR A relevant backlink fits the niche better and can be more valuable than a high DR link from an unrelated site
 
I'd pick topical relevance
I also check whether the actual page linking to me gets indexed because domain metrics alone don't tell you much

Relevance to the topic trumps Dr any day a mention in some obscure yet relevant blogs makes much more difference than inflated figures on some random metrics website.

I would choose topical relevance or the time since DR is mostly an inflated metric.
 
I’d go with topical relevance over DR A link from a relevant website makes more sense than one from a high DR site in a completely different niche DR is a useful metric but I think relevance and the quality of the linking site matter more in the long run
 
For me, a link from a smaller site in the same niche is worth considering over a random high DR site.
 
Depends on the niche tbh. In a tight niche there aren't many relevant sites with any authority, so I'd take a slightly lower DR relevant link over a random high DR one every time.
 
I’d pick topical relevance high DR looks nice in reports but a relevant link from a site in your niche makes more sense than a random big metric site lol.
 
relevance, and one thing nobody added: whether the page stays indexed. a relevant link on a page google drops is worth nothing, i check my placements every month and i send a few cheap links at the ones that are fading, a small automated tier off a verified list does that for me. dr tells you nothing about either
 
Consistency and content around the link being valuable for your business even if unlinked.
 
Topic relevancy will definitely help you with organic and quality traffic visiting multiple times. So, Going for relevancy is more realistic than DR
