Blogging as primary income

Hi All,

Most seo's do blogging next to their job as a side hustle. I was wondering if there are people that do it the other way around. If so whats your split? I'll start 80% day job(data consultant) 20% blogging & content sites (mainly affiliate as income model)
Data man making affiliate content is gud combination tbh. went full tym once traffic was beating 9 to 5 but algorithms will drive uhh crazy real fast. Still, it was better than being stuck at desk all day to fine tune funnels.

I would suggest to keep the until blogging income is stable for 6-12 months. Remember that blogging income can swing a lot after Google Updates! :)

Do not leave your job at all until you start getting satisfcatory outputs from blogging. For this I suggest, whatever time you get in a day for blogging use it efficiently. Do research, add real information that your target audience can relate with, make it more credible. Aim to make it relevant to your target audience instead of treating it like something you have to rush. Blogging takes time, so I'd treat it as a long-term project rather than expecting quick results.

Blogging as an income source is achievable but requires some time to generate adequate traffic and income that can take place of a normal job.

Affiliate sites might also have a lot of volatility therefore it is important to have another income source at the beginning when do you think you will be ready to make blogging an income source?
yeah, i’d keep another income stream until the blog is consistently covering your monthly expenses. affiliate traffic can swing a lot, so i’d rather wait for 6–12 months of stable earnings before going all-in Make the advice more actionable Make the BHW tone more casual

When you write well, many people will read your work, and you will earn money from that content.

I’d keep the day job as the main income until the blog earns consistently for several months. Blogging can become a full-time business, but affiliate income can fluctuate a lot, so having a stable income while growing the site is a safer approach.

Yeah, some do flip it once the sites earn enough. I’m on an 80/20 split myself: day job as a data consultant, 20% on affiliate sites. Data skills help with SEO, and I’d only shift the balance once the sites earn consistently.
