Hey guys,
For those running sites with a lot of pages, how are you handling backlinks? Do you focus links on the main domain, build links to specific pages, or just keep the link building more natural? Would like to hear what’s actually working for you.

the thing that I will do is to establish myself as an expert in my niche and then backlink to the page which have made some impressions on me along with the ones which are on page 2. In case of large sites, there is nothing that beats varied anchor text nd internal linking.

in the case of a bigger website i would refrain from pushing links just to the homepage because there are other important pages with useful information that can be helped by linking another thing is for the websites best pages to determine where links will be needed how do you choose which pages get links first?

For big sites I don't try to link to evry page, because it never scales. Most links go to the homepage and a handful of hub/category pages, and internal linking does the rest by pushig equity from the hubs down to the mony pags with relevant anchors. Only pages that make real money or face tough competition get direct links.

In GSC, look for pages siting at positions 8-20 with good impressions. Those are the best deep-link targets because a smal push moves them.

As a rookie in this aspect of SEO i would try to use both options linking to the homepage and linking to pages that are really important for ranking on bigger sites it is also important to maintain the natural link profile.

I usually focus most links on the main domain, then build a few to the pages that actually need a boost. Keeps things pretty natural without spreading the links too thin.

for bigger websites i would not normally try to get all links pointing to the homepage. some would go to relevant cattegories or money pages while the others would simply come naturally from quality content. it just appears that varying anchor texts nd choosing relevant websites is more secure than forcing links everywhere.

For big websites i would concentrate the linking more on those pages which can rank or get traffic while the rest would be left with a little link love However i would not forget about making the link profile look natural and establishing some domain authority too.

For larger sites,

I usually mix both. build authority to the homepage while pushing targeted links to important pages that actually need rankings.

Keeping the anchor profile natural and prioritizing relevant, quality placements seems to work better than spreading links randomly across every page.

It completely depends on the website and its requirements.

For example, what kind of strategy is needed for an e-commerce site? There may be several products being targeted on the website, so we need to focus on the competition for each product. What kind of strategy is the website looking for? In case they need to increase backlinks for better exposure or run ads to increase sales, etc., there are several approaches involved.

Mostly, it all depends on the website, what exactly it is

Pages that already bring traffic would get priority, since a good link can help a page that is already showing some potential.

For larger sites, I prefer a mix rather than pushing everything to the homepage. I usually build authority links to the homepage and important category/pillar pages, then build more relevant links directly to the pages that actually need a ranking push. Internal linking also plays a big role here. If the site has hundreds or thousands of pages, you obviously can’t build backlinks to every URL. Strengthen the important sections first and let internal links distribute that authority.

I am just a beginner when it comes to large websites but would create some backlinks to the primary website and some to the most significant pages i guess it all depends on what kind of pages you have and which keywords you use too.

combination of contextual guest posting targeting key income generators and automated tiers of spam targeting deep pages in the archives to keep indexing going tbh

I’d mix both. Build authority to the main site, but also send links to important pages you actually want to rank. Keep anchors and targets varied so it looks natural.

on a big website i would stick to keeping it relatively simple.i would not attempt to generate backlinks to every individual URL as it could turn out to be a never-ending process.i would select those URLs which are important in terms of getting traffic nd revenue nd then create backlinks to them while ensuring that some of that value is passed through internal linkking to relevant URLs.

I push links into the main category pages then use internal links from those pages to feed the long tail stuff underneath

Depends on the site type but I would not treat it as one or the other. Money pages and the hubs that feed them get the direct, planned links. The rest of the pages mostly get lifted by internal linking from those, and by whatever comes naturally from good content.

Pushing everything at the homepage usually leaves deep pages starved, and building links to every single page is just not realistic with lots of URLs. Check which pages already attract links by themselves, then support those and the ones close to page one first.

target the primary category hubs with strong links and then allows intelligent internal linking to funnel the link value to the rest. other wise uhh will be broke manually pitching.
