do product videos really need to look professional?

Trying to get some traffic without spending a ton on ads and started posting more short videos for my store

I sell products from selvia, so they already have product photos and sometimes videos for the products too. I just wanted to make some extra content for social media instead of posting the same stuff everyone else has

some of the videos that look kinda bad actually get more views than the ones I spend time editing

do people here just post a lot and see what sticks or is there actually a better way to make these videos?

Phone footage with a plain background beat polished supplier clips for me, mostly because the first 2 seconds felt like a real person using it. Are you testing hooks on the same product or rotating products

IMO if the content looks authentic and not necessarily super polished it can be more relatable to users, therefore driving more engagement.

Nowadays, people are interested in videos that offer genuine product insights and diverse perspectives on usage or effectiveness; in contrast, standard product introduction videos often merely provide a surface-level overview without highlighting the key factors that actually drive purchasing decisions.

Post a lot, but test one thing at a time. Usually the raw-looking videos win because they feel less like ads.

Try different hooks, first 2 seconds, text overlays and angles. Keep what gets watch time and repeat that style.

yes this is the actual way from video you get some views traffic to attract people some beat and song this is easy way to run

What people engage with is the authenticity of your video. Over-polishing most times makes the videos to loose the attraction factor. Focus on videos that are able to really communicate your product. People engage with that most.

mostly been trying different styles on the same products but haven't really tested hooks properly yet. I usually end up changing like 3 things at once and then have no idea what actually worked haha. probably need to be more systematic about it

I guess first of all it needs to hook an attention

Try showing the product in actual use instead of relying only on the product photos, as people like to see how it works.

I guess a simple video showing how the product works can be enough. Still figuring out what works best myself!

I'd focus more on showing the product clearly in the first few seconds than making every video look polished. Test different hooks, real use cases and simple demos, then compare watch time and clicks to see which videos bring actual buyers, not just views.

Every product video needs not to look professional. Sometimes simple, authentic videos perform better because they feel more relatable and less like an advertisement. Test different hooks, product demonstrations, and problem-solving clips rather than focusing too much on editing. Post consistently, track watch time and engagement, and repeat what works.
The goal is to attract more people interested in the product, not making the video look good.

Honestly, they don't need to look super professional, a simple video that shows the product clearly and grabs attention in the first few seconds can do better than an overedited one.

its probably not the polish thats hurting you. those selvia clips are the same files every other seller of that product is uploading, and tiktok and ig both deprioritise footage they already have indexed. your rough phone videos win cause theyre the only original content on the account, not cause rough looks more authentic. refilm the stuff yourself even badly and the gap closes fast
