Do You First Consider Traffic Quality When Linking

I agree that traffic numbers can be misleading. A smaller amount of highly relevant traffic that engages and converts is usually more valuable to me than a large volume of visitors who leave without taking any action.

Same here I care more about where the traffic comes from and what those visitors actually do on the site than the traffic number itself
same here, raw traffic figures are quite deceptive. i would prefer 500 relevant visits doing something useful than 5k who bounce immediately.

I usually check if the page is getting any organic traffic, not just whether the whole domain has traffic.

For me, traffic is only the starting point. I usually look at engagement, conversion rate, landing-page performance, and where the visitors came from. If a traffic source brings the right audience and contributes to actual business goals, I consider that more important than its overall traffic volume.

I like to check if the site gets traffic from several sources, not just one source.

Relevance and audience quality are definitely more important than just raw traffic numbers. A few visitors who actually care about the content will always do more for a site than high volume from an unrelated audience.
indeed, the raw number may be very high and yet mean nothing. in this case, the smaller targeted audience works better.

I’d also check whether the page linking to your site is relevant to the topic of your own page. Even if the website has good traffic, a link from an unrelated article may not make much sense. The context around the link matters too, not just the traffic numbers.
Relevance over Traffic numbers is more important to me personally. The contextual relevance of the link on the relevant page is always more important than the traffic.

yeah same, DR and traffic numbers alone don't mean much anymore. i check if the site's actual audience overlaps with mine and if they'd realistically click through, otherwise it's just a vanity link

I’m focusing less on raw traffic numbers and more on engagement, conversion rates, and the quality of the traffic sources. Just curious how others here judge link quality.

I have started moving past counting traffic and considering the engagement rates and conversion rate and quality of the traffic sources before anything else. Just curious about what other people consider.
You can only guess at engagement on someone else's site unless they actually show you the analytics. What i can check is where the traffic comes from, and if a site aimed at one country pulls all its visitors from somewhere unrelated, that says enough on its own.

For bought placements the traffic is really just a proxy for whether google still rates the site. Almost nobody is clicking those links anyway.

I focus on traffic quality first, especially engagement, conversions, relevance, and whether the source aligns with my target audience.

same here, no point in raw traffic numbers if visitors aren’t really engaged or converting. i’d prefer to get fewer visitors who do something over thousands who do nothing.

Traffic quality and niche relevance always come first for me now because getting thousands of junk hits that bounce instantly ends up hurting your rankings and conversions in the long run.

I look at relevance and actual traffic quality before getting too focused on raw numbers because a site can show decent traffic but send visitors who have no interest in the offer engagement and conversions give a clearer picture of value especially when evaluating placements so I prefer a relevant site with an active audience over impressive metrics alone

Traffic quality should take precedence over the quantity of the traffic it is possible to have traffic on a website that is irrelevant to what you want one should assess whether the website has traffic which is relevant and engaging.

I’ve stopped looking at traffic as just a number. I’d rather have a link from a smaller site with the right audience than a bigger site sending completely unrelated visitors.
For me, relevance and real user interest matter more than raw traffic.

In the context of modern SEO, I always prioritize the quality and relevance of traffic when developing a link-building strategy or link structure for a website.

For me, targeted traffic always beats high volume. I'd rather have fewer visitors who actually convert than a ton of random clicks. When evaluating a site, I look closely at audience alignment, referral sources, on-page engagement, and whether that traffic translates into real business value.

I guess high traffic numbers look nice, but they don’t mean much if nobody cares about the content. Better to have fewer visitors who are actually interested than thousands who just leave right away lol. Quality over quantity, I guess.

I agree traffic quality matters more than numbers alone also look at relevance engagement and whether the links bring real visitors who are genuinely interested in the niche.
