I am testing something with fb groups. Just finished my scraper but havent run it yet.

Just want to hear some general advice of do's specially dont's from people who have done this before. It would be nice if I can learn how to be safe and prevent any problems than fixing it after I encounter them

Personally, I would not run the scraper aggressively from the start. Test it on a small scale first and watch how the groups and account react. I have seen quite a few cases fail because of too many requests too quickly, so slow and stable is usually safer.

What issue are you collecting data about, could you explain in more detail?

business pain points. I'm collecting post and using AI to analyze the post and return only the results that I want.

Tried running it today and the first problem I encounter is scraper is pretty slow. Not using any API don't want to pay atm so I need to find a way to optimize it. Any advice is welcome.

In my opinion, the most important factor to evaluate is the engagement rate per post.

my recommendation would be to approach the first scraping round as a test run, rather than something to be taken seriously.this means starting with few groups nd monitoring the accounts reactions prior to increasing anything. logging what the scraper does will help u notice any reppetitions.in any case u should not use the software to bypass restrictions nd gather personal information from members.

Cut out images and fonts in the request first, that alone speeds things up a lotbut grabbing the graphql responses directly instead of waiting for DOM elements is where you save the most time.

Keep the session and proxy in a persistent profile so you dont have to log in every run and dont use the same sleep times every time or FB will catch on pretty quick

Don't scrape from groups you own or test accounts, use fresh proxies rotating every few requests and keep your scraping slow enough it looks organic or you'll trigger their anti-bot detection instantly

Most Facebook groups require regular, daily interaction to motivate members to act in line with the goals you had when creating the group. That is all I can say for now, given that your question was rather vague.

Rule #1: Never use your main account. FB will eventually checkpoint any account scraping group data.
DO:
Use cheap burner accounts + residential proxies (datacenter IPs get blocked fast).
Add random delay pauses (3–8s) between scrolls or pagination calls.
DON'T:
Don't blast speed. Scale by adding more burner accounts, not by speeding up one script.
Are you scraping public group posts or private group member lists?
