Do link exchanges work? Should we do it anymore?

I feel that the value of link exchanges is possible only through natural exchanges between related sites however i do not feel that one should make any strategy for large scale or even obvious link exchanges.

I still do a few but only when the sites actually make sense together. Forced swaps just for getting a link arent worth it.

i think link swap is only worth considering when there real reason for both sites to mention each otherwise it can look pretty forced if some random site is offering a swap out of nowhere check the site and why they want the link before agreeing

Direct A-to-B reciprocal exchanges at scale are easily flagged by Google nowadays. They only make sense if it's a natural, highly relevant context between two authority sites in the same niche.

honestly direct 1:1 exchanges feel risky now, google can spot the pattern easily. if its indirect like a three way swap and sites are genuinely relevant to each other it's fine, but wouldn't build a strategy around it

depends how youre doing it. a swap with a couple of relevant sites is normal, people do that without even calling it a link exchange.
the groups where everyone links to everyone are the ones that get picked off.

I think link exchanges can still be useful when they’re relevant and done naturally. I wouldn't do them just for the backlink, especially with unrelated sites or excessive exchanges.

They usually work. Yes. Don't expect miracles.

At least it worked for me in adult industry.

What are the benefits for link exchange?

Should we get them?
IMO, link exchanges have value, but I wouldn't do them just for sake of getting reciprocal links. If the sites are relevant and the links genuinely make sense for users, that's fine. But doing it across a lot of unrelated sites where I'd be careful.

Link exchanges can work when done naturally between relevant sites, and they can bring relevant referral traffic too.

But doing too many exchanges or using them mainly to manipulate rankings can make the link profile look unnatural, so it is better to keep them limited and relevant.

link exchange can help you to boost yourwebsite but links must be from quality and relevent websites not spammy links, so quality msut be focused

Direct link exchanges (Site A and B) do work to transfer authority, but Google easily detects two-way footprint patterns and devalues them.
To keep it safe and effective, people use 3-way exchanges through separate sites to make the link profile look natural.
Yeah, bartering leaves a pretty clear trail in my opinion. I would concentrate on finding some relevant links rather than working out ways around detection systems.
