Hi my honourable friends,

We’ve seen quite a bit of ups and downs in the SERPs over the last 90 days. Between the core updates and the continued integration of AI overviews, it feels like the goalposts for 'what works' have moved again.

I’ve been observing some interesting patterns: sites with strong topical authority seem to be holding their ground, while some high-volume 'thin content' sites are struggling more than ever.

I’m curious to get a pulse check from the community:

  1. What is the biggest change you've noticed in your traffic or rankings in the last 3 months?
  2. Are you seeing 'AI-Overviews' impacting your clicks, or is it business as usual?
  3. Has your strategy changed at all to adapt to these recent updates?
Looking forward to hearing your real-world observations!

the biggest change i've noticed is that topical authority is outperforming sheer content volume. sites with deeper coverage seem more stable during updates. Ai overviews have definitely reduced clicks on some informational queries, even when rankings stayed the same. my focus now is on better content, stronger topical clusters, and diversifying traffic beyond google.

i have noticed more volatility on pages focusing on broader informational keywords.though ranking fluctuations may not be great, there may be some changes in clicks since the search results page is now answering the question.it becomes more interesting to analyze impressions, clicks nd conversions altogether in order to understand if an SEO update is reqquired.

On local stuff a lot of people can just call or tap directions from the listing and never hit the site.

An old number on some listing can eat those calls and it'd never show up in GA.

Are you counting calls and direction taps from the business profile, or just site conversions?

The informational pages are where i see it. Impressions sit about the same, clicks are down on anything that gets answered inside the overview. Commercial pages have barely moved.

Only real change in approach is writing less of the explainer type stuff and more of the pages people actually arrive on ready to buy something.

Worth remembering the spam update that kicked off at the end of last month is still rolling as well, so a fair bit of what people are reporting right now is probably not settled yet.

The biggest change I’m seeing is that broad, thin pages are much less reliable now...

Pages that actually answer one clear question and showw real experience seem to hold up better, while AI Overviews are definitely taking some clicks from simple informational searches.

Google also now reports AI feature performance in Search Console which makes that analysis a bit easier.

bigger drop on informational pages where ai overview can answer the query without much need to click through impressions look fairly steady but clicks lower commercial pages more stable for me so putting more effort into content with stronger buying intent instead of writing endless explainers
