These used to be the first thing everyone threw at a new site. Now i barely see them mentioned except as filler inside tiering.
They still turn up in link packages, but i cannot tell if people are getting anything out of them or if they are just cheap to produce so they get included.

If you are still building them, are they pointing at the money site or sitting in tier 2 feeding something else

I still use Web 2.0s occasionally but mostly as supporting links. Sending them straight to the money site doesnt seem worth the risk.

They still have a place in some link setups but the way they are used has changed. Putting many of Web 2.0s directly at the money site just because they are easy to build is not makes much sense anymore

They are more useful when the pages have some real content and purpose or when they are part of a wider tiered structure. The bigger question is whether the Web 2 0 actually adds anything to the link profile or just increasing the link count..

I still use them, but mostly as supporting links rather than pointing a bunch directly at the money site. If I build them, I prefer using them in a tiered setup where they can strengthen relevant assets without making the backlink profile look forced.

in truth, I still find them being used quite a lot, especially for tiering nd additional linking. it is kind of an outdated practice to just bombard that money site with all that web 2.0 stuff. when I make any such thing, then I would like them to be web in addition to link farm.

tbh, even now I see them being used, just not necessarily as the sole method of linking but rather as a sort of additional link or even as an element within the entire set-up. dropping a whole bunch of web 2.0 link in your money site is so 1998.

I only use them in two ways now. Either as tier 2 to support guest posts or other links that already point at the money site, or as branded profiles that are properly filed out (real about section, consistent brand info) more for entity signals than link juice.

Pointing them straight at the money site barely does anything anymore in my experience, and most never get indxed unless they have decent contnt and something linking to them. When a package says 50 web 2.0s inclued, I assume most of it is filler that's cheep to produce.

Last month I put up two web 2.0s with real articles on them, just to test. I'm with seotrends on the indexing point. Without anything linking in, mine just sat there doing nothing.

tier 2 feeding something else, always. a web 2.0 pointing at the money site is a 2014 move. a web 2.0 with 200 gsa links behind it pointing at a buffer page is a 2026 move and it still works mate. they turn up in packages as filler because sellers build one post and walk away. mine have 5 or 6 real posts, get crawled weekly because of the tier 2, and sit there for years << same dozen since 2023. the question isnt are web 2.0s dead, its does anything point at the web 2.0

I wouldn’t assume they’re doing much just because they’re included in a tiered package. If the page exists mainly to pass link equity, Google considers that kind of low quality link building content spam.

I always build web2.0s for my rank and rent sites. If you can build quality web2.0s and index them. They will surely have an impact on your website.

Automated Tier 2 indexing pumps are the sole reason why anyone even bothers with them as nobody wants to risk their money on those garbage sites.

i do see people using web 2.0s now, but mostly as supplementtary links instead of linking them all straight to the money page. what i m interested in more is if there is any real content on these pages or if it is all bulk content creation. i think that if there is not really any substance there then not much will come of them.

Still see some people using them for tier 2/3, but results are weaker than before. Mostly for diversity now. Anyone getting decent results in 2026?
