do external links hurt linkedin reach?

still seeing people avoid links in post but not sure how much it matters.
External links can be detrimental to reach but good content always wins. First, focus on value, and add links only when they actually help the reader.

i would not necessarily stay away from external links simply based on reach. in this case if there is enough value in the post itself then the link becomes additional information rather than the reason behind the post. i would condduct some tests nd see the difference in impressions.

They can sometimes reduce reach, so I’d test posts with and without external links and compare.

Links in the main part of the post get less reach but putting links in the comments is probably okay

Yess that tanks impressions. The best solution is to post without it and then edit the lp 10 minutes later when it starts getting some impressions.

If you really need to share a link, test both approaches for a few weeks. Compare your reach and engagement to see whether links are actually hurting your posts.

external links may reduce reach sometimes but i still think useful content should come first and links are better added only when they give readers something extra

no reason to take links off just based on hearsay that linkedIn does not like links. too many other factors at play when it comes to exposure. if the link is good leave it there nd see how it compares to other simillar posts without a link.

It does seem to matter a bit, just less than people make out. Easiest way to settle it is on your own account, post similar stuff both ways for a couple of weeks and watch the difference.

The usual workaround is dropping the link in the first comment instead. Half the time the post with the link in it does fine anyway

LinkedIn kinda wants to keep you trapped on the platform, external links can hurt reach sometimes, especially if the post is basically just “here’s a link, go click it.” I would keep the post valuable and drop the link in the comments if it makes sense.

Actually you can determine post are informative and contain value about this post. Then add reference link that are helpful to understand clearly and know something new from this video documentation.

Yes they do hurt the reach. LinkedIn actually penalizes posts that drive users off the platform.
You would need to public your posts without URLs if you don't want to get impacted.

They still cut reach a bit, LinkedIn prefers keeping people on the platform so posts with links outside usually get shown to fewer people, most folks just drop the link in the first comment instead and it works fine.

It is a matter of opinion really but if reach makes a difference, perhaps the URL should be keeps off the initial post and instead posted in the comments.

external links affect reach in some cases but not assume they always do run a few posts with links and a few without then compare the impressions and engagement see what actually happens on your account
