Namecheap .com renewal $14.78 (with 20% discount)

1 domain at Namecheap.
3 domains at Porkbun.

Thinking of ditching Namecheap next year.
Easier to have everything in the same place.

Namecheap has very good customer service. I have used it 3 times, and they are Pro.

Danm common guys, why you all jumping ship? They'll put their prices up, and noobs like me who need live chat for DNS help will be toast! lol :D

Also cloudflare went down more often this year than name cheap! thats got to be worth something no? :)

Cloudflare has too many settings for me, i have it for domain protection, and that at first was enough hassle with domain internal redirection error or something at the time. that was enough to put me off.

Am i turning into a boomer guys?? :D

You don't need anyone anymore, you have AI. Ask ChatGPT or Claude, they help you get done anything you want. DNS for websites, build a spaceship, cure cancer, a nuke, anything you want now you can do yourself, you don't need anyone :D

Having said that...

I decided to move some of my domains to Cloudflare, and some to Spaceship. Spaceship actually has an even better price than Cloudflare. We're talking $9,68 per domain/year for the transfer.

I've always been a diversify kind of guy. Yall should see how my cryptos are split up, immediate headache. Then you should see my notes about it (not proud of them), you'd be suicidal. But for some reason I always kept my sites on the same hosting, and my domains on the same registrar. Well, all things come to an end I guess...

So I'm now moving my 3rd site to Spaceship. So far so good, all smooth. We'll see how Cloudflare performs once I get to it. But given the prices, I'll put more domains on Spaceship than Cloudflare. It really is a matter of dollars and cents for me, because, all else seems to be equal.

Be it as it may, once I'm done I'm gonna disable auto-renew for all the domains at both registrars, then renew each site for 3-4 years, and forget all about this shit :p

When all is said and done, I'm saving about $120 with this move versus staying at Namecheap and paying for the same renewals (25 years across 9 domains).

C'est la vie

Okay I moved all the domains, turned off auto-pay, and now gonna renew them all until 2030

Someone needs to talk to Cloudflare's money department about adding a fucking cart. If I'm gonna renew 2 domains, I have to pay for each of them individually. Paypal has a flat fee + % for each payment you receive. So they're losing money on every payment they receive basically. Then again, at those levels, who knows what kind of agreement they may have with Paypal. Maybe no flat fee, maybe one lump yearly sum and no fee on receiving payments. Anyway...

Spaceship has the same deal. You wanna extend 10 domains? 10 individual payments. They have to have some special deal with Paypal, there is no way they are wasting the flat fee for every payment. They even have a cart on their website, so why not use it.

Anyway, if they don't have a special deal and are paying P(G)aypal the flat fee for every receiving payment, their financial departments need to be taken out front of the building and shot, and the corpses left there to rot to serve as an example for the next financial department folks that get hired.

Well, all my domains are moved, all auto-pays turned OFF, and all domains extended until end 2031. Let's talk money...

The total cost was $356.10, and I got a total of 35 years of renewals

On Namecheap I would had paid $374.50 for a total of 25 years of renewals

Job well done everyone. And now that I'm $356.10 lighter, yall should put some money together and give some money for charity, to me :D

So lastly, I went to Paypal - Settings - Payments to cancel the automatic subscriptions that were setup.

Cloudflare got cancelled immediately, like every other such subscription payment I've cancelled in the past.

But Spaceship went PENDING CANCELLATION. I've never seen that before. How can it be pending? That's a little.. like.. intrusive. It's not like I have an active payment or something to them, all my payments to them have been sent a few hours ago.

Weird...
